Chapter 29

To say the silence was tense would be an understatement. No one wanted Ravage, Rumble, or Frenzy to ride with them, but after using a little authority Optimus gave me, I told Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Mirage they really had no choice but to have one of them riding with them. So Mirage go stuck with Frenzy, Bumblebee got Rumble and since I couldn't fly and we were also in the middle of Seattle and since I was stuck being human I was riding with Sideswipe while pretending to drive while Ravage rode in the passenger seat in the form of a large black panther.

I felt bad about using my temporary authority, but it's not like I had much choice in the matter. At least Bumblebee complained less then the other two, but he still wasn't to happy about the situation. Not that I could blame any of them. Long time enemies can't just become friends over night.

Poking the bond with Max, I found ourselves getting closer, but with the usual Seattle traffic I remember from when I used to leave here, it was a slow going to get into the city. Even slower than normal when people would actually stop their cars in the next lanes over and just stare with open mouths at the bright red Lamborghini and Ferrari or they would after a minute of staring, pull out their phones or cameras and take pictures of the two exotic cars.

I let out a sigh, happy the windows were tinted enough so no one could see in and see a teenager and big cat as the only passengers. I frowned at the dashboard as Sideswipe slowly drove through the traffic, his entire frame stiff. Usually he would be saying something about the humans admiring his alt or something, but he was quite.

Entering the main part of the city, I looked around at the familiar structures of the tall buildings with some of the older parts of the city here and there, most of them being in the Downtown area. The gray clouds overhead made everything look kind of dreary, but to me it was something I was familiar with and felt like home.

Unfortunately with how big Seattle is, Max could be hiding anywhere. Why did he have to choose a huge city to hide in? Why not some small town? It would definitely make finding him easier.

"Any ideas on where to start looking?" Sideswipe spoke up, bringing me out of my thoughts.

If I was Max, were would I hide?

"Well, since we used to live about forty-five minutes away, Max and I would come up here with my family all the time so..." I narrowed my eyes as I thought about one of the many places he might be. "He's probably going to be somewhere familiar but also out of the way. There's a number of places here that he really likes so we can start out looking in those places. Head Downtown, I think that's where Max would be."
