Chapter 3
Since darkness waits for me, then all the more
Let me go down as waves sweep to the shore
In pride, and let me sing with my last breath;
In these few hours of light I lift my head;
Life is my lover—I shall leave the dead
If there is any way to baffle death.
-Sara Teasdale
They sat in silence awhile after the small spar, Alchemy musing over Seros's actions. Then, a small dripping sound permeated her thoughts. She glanced in the general direction of the sound. She then took a double take. With a soft "plop" each time, pieces pf the scenery were liquifying and dripping to the ground.
"Is it supposed to do that?" She asked. Makat looked up, and recoiled.
"No...no I think not." The others slowly rose their eyes to find out what the nuisance was. They all had the same reaction, watching as it created a sizable oval, showing them a preview of the real world. In it, the large stone table that was attached just right of where the Dikai stone would be set in the wall, a dark cloaked man was arranging a set of sharp..and wicked deadly objects on it.
"Is it the Day Of Thanks already?" He looked at Alchemy, raising a quizzical eyebrow. She shook her head.
"Can't be. Still mid-winter, though he does look like he's preparing for a ritualistic sacrifice." Daiki snorted.
"Our savior." They all looked at him, and he rolled his eyes. "Ritualistic sacrifice of a-" They all shushed him as the cloaked figure spoke.
"How nice of you to join us." The man called. Trying to see, the group all seemed to turn their heads to see around the corner to who he was talking to. As if answering this silent motion, the eye seemed to turn and look around the corner, and zoomed in. A young woman was bound and gagged, and was putting up quite a fight as she was dragged up to the alter like table. She was fair enough, if not better then average. She had soft blonde hair that reached mid-waist on her, as well as bright blue eyes...which were currently overflowing with a hatred directed at the cloaked man. The cave itself was about 50 feet deep, heading downhill to a small circular room, which was about 60 feet wide. A small hole was cut out underneath the built-in table...perhaps the cave had been carved out for the purpose of satanic rituals. Who knew? Slowly and deliberately, he removed the gag, avoiding her gnashing teeth.
"You'll never get away with this, you filthy, dirty blooded bastard!" He chuckled.
"You sure a feisty one..I can't wait to see the light see those pretty blue eyes of yours..." he ran a hand down the side of her cheek, and she flinched from his touch.
"Well..." Alchemy crouched down directly in front of the viewing area, and it expanded. "He sure is a charmer." Seros shook his head, and looked at Alchemy.
"Tell me...was I ever that creepy?" Makat chuckled at the question. Alchemy fell back on her haunches, thinking.
"Yes. You most definitely were." This made Seros's cheeks burn furiously, whilst the others just laughed merrily at his embarrassment.
"How?" He asked, shuffling closer to her.
"Come on, you basically stalked me while sending cryptic messages for 2 years. You were creepy." This caused an even louder round of raucous laughter.
