I woke up the next morning and rolled out of bed. I was so emotionally drained from the day before, I didn't think I had any more tears left in me. I opened my dresser and pulled out an old t-shirt and a pair of ripped jeans and slowly put them on. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and called it good. I grabbed my bag and ran down the stairs, I quickly slid on some shoes and bolted outside and jumped into River's car that was waiting for me outside, and slammed the car door behind me. I was the only one of my friends who didn't have a car.

"Are you ready for tonight?" River asked, with a little giggle.

"Yeah, all my stuff is in the bag," I said starting to giggle too.

We pulled away from my house and drove to River's house. We pulled up outside and ran in. We ran all the way up the stairs to River's room and slammed the door.

"Lets see yours first" River said gesturing to my bag.

"Ok, give me a minute,"I said as I grabbed my bag and darted into her walk in closet.

I reached into my bag and pulled out a big lump of glittery blue fabric, I removed my clothes and slid the sparkly ball of fabric over my head. I looked in the mirror and stared at the beautiful woman looking back at me. She was dressed in a beautiful, strapless, Cinderella-style ball gown and the top was light blue like the sky and studded with diamonds, the bottom half was the same blue as the top, but covered in silver sparkles and it poofed out into a beautiful skirt that touched the floor, so she wore tennis shoes under the dress instead of uncomfortable heels. I walked out of the closet only to see an absolutely stunned River. She just stared at me as if I had just stepped out of a space ship.

"So?" I asked, smiling.

"You look absolutely gorgeous,"she said smiling ear to ear.

"Why, thank you, lets see your dress," I said, very eager to see what she had chosen.

"Ok, hang on,"She said as she stepped into the closet.

I was hoping that tonight would take my mind off of yesterday, I was just praying that nobody asked me where I was

I waited a few minutes, but it felt like forever, but she finally stepped out. I was frozen, she was absolutely beautiful. She was dressed in a strapless, pink mermaid-style dress. A thin diamond belt was around her waist and her heeled shoes matched the diamond belt. The back of the dress touched the floor and the front was just high enough to reveal her diamond shoes.

"Wow...you look beautiful... I'm speechless," I stuttered.

"Thanks,"she said with a smile on her face.

"But what do we do about our hair," I asked pulling out the hair tie that kept my hair up, revealing a hot mess.

"What if we curled yours and left it down, and I think I will do the same," she said, attempting to run her fingers through my hair.

It took about two hours but we had finally curled our hair and did our makeup while we were at it. I only put on some concealer to cover some acne because I hate makeup and River had done the exact opposite, her makeup was very fancy and well done. We looked beautiful. We looked out the window and a small black limo was parked outside. We ran to the top of River's stairs as fast as we could. River walked down first and made a fantastic entrance. The back of her dress flowed behind her as she slowly walked down the stairs, she reached the bottom and I could hear Leo telling her how beautiful she looked and Jonathan was speechless, I could hear him stutter from the top of the stairs. Then I heard a squeal as Jonathan picked River up and twirl her around. Then It was my turn. I grabbed the railing to steady myself and I slowly walked down the stairs, step by step. I reached the bottom and I saw Leo. He was dressed in a classic tuxedo with a bowtie the same colour as my dress. His hair was as usual, brushed, shook, and hair sprayed. He looked even more handsome than usual.

"Wow," said an awestruck Leo, he was struggling to find words.

"You look absolutely gorgeous," he said as he wrapped his arm around my waist.

" You know, I kinda like my scar," I said looking at my shoulder, my scar was completely visible.

"It's beautiful," he said, smiling.

The three of us walked out to the limo. Leo opened the door for River and she stepped in and slid over, Followed closely by Jonathan, River might have a boyfriend but the was a strong independant woman and she made that very clear. I was about to climb in when Leo wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me toward him. Our lips met and I ran my hand through his beautifully soft hair. We pulled away. His deep blue eyes were glistening and beautiful as ever. He ran his fingers over my scar.

"I'm just glad you're alright," he said looking down at my shoulder.

"Me too babe, me too," I said in reply.

I climbed into the limo and sat next to River, Leo sat on the other side of me, with his arm across my shoulders. The limo pulled away and we watched River's house shrink in the distance.

River leaned over to me, "I got a tattoo yesterday," she whispered in my ear.

"What?"I replied in shock.

"I got a tattoo,"she repeated.

"Of what?"I asked, still in shock.

"Your scar,"she said, as she pushed down the top of her dress only enough to reveal the tattoo, it was two inches long and looked exactly like the one on my shoulder.

"Sweet, now we have friendship scars," I said smiling.

"Well you got a scar for me I thought it was only fair," she said a smile spreading across her face.

"You dork,"I said giving her a big hug.

It was at this moment when I so desperately wanted to tell her about my little brother, but I thought it was best just to keep some things to myself.

After about a ten minute ride in a beautiful limo, I wish we could have ridden in it longer, we pulled up outside the school, the dull brick building was decorated with flowers, fairy lights, and bits of fabric it looked very fancy. A large white banner was hanging above the doorway. In red, painted on letters, it read "Welcome to Senior Prom!"
