Twenty-one

Alice and Zane pulled into the drive way and went through the front entrance of the house incase Heath was by the pool. They snuck in. Failing to be silent and laughing when Zane dropped one of the Mcdonalds bags on the floor. 

"You two are so loud." Toddy said as he walked in from the yard with his shirt thrown over his shoulder and sunglasses resting on his head. 

"Thanks." Alice said, wiggling her eyebrows. 

"That was so creepy." Todd hollered behind his shoulder as he went to his room. Alice rolled her eyes as she went outside looking for Heath. 

Alice had no idea what heath was going to ask but she couldnt help but be nervous. She scanned the patio but couldnt find the lovely human being she was searching for. 

Making the conclusion that heath was not outside, she ventured into the pool house. She neared heaths room. His door was closed but as she got closer she could hear the faint voice of eyedea. As she grew closer to his room she recognized the song. It was forget me by eyedea featuring slug. 

One thing she very much valued about heath was his taste in music. Alice had always loved rymesayers entertainment. Atmosphere was one of her favorites. But then again so was Brother Ali, Dem Atlas, Eyedeas and  Abilities, Aesop Rock, and so many more. 

Alice loves Atmosphere so much that she got Fishing Blues on lp as soon as she could. 

Alice took the last step to his door and knocked lightly. There was no response. Alice slowley opened the door and took a step in.  

Heath didnt see her. He was too focused on singing to the song and grinding up the buds sitting next to him. Alice chuckled under her breathe and walked into the room and plopping onto the bed across from him. He looked up at her startled. 

"You dont mind, right?" Heath asked, gesturing to the drugs infront of him. Alice shook her head. 

"Not at all. I brought food." She smiled at him as he continued packing the bowl. 

"As long as you let me join you, that is." She added. Heath laughed now and shook his head. 

"It would be an honer." He beamed at her.

They where both stoned now, they had finished all the food in the bag and where now just lying down on heaths bed, cuddled up together and giggling at the stupid thoughts that popped out of eachothers mouths. 

"Heath?" Alice asked after a small silence.

"Yes, princess?"

"What were you going to ask me when we were texting?" Alice asked out of curiosity. 

Heath took a moment to think. Not that hard though because what he said next is something that he never would have said like this. 

"I was going to ask if you wanted to be my girlfriend." Heath answered. Alice didnt know what to think, but heath continued. 

"I didnt expect this to happen, i really didnt. Imdidnt expect that a stranger could become my best friend, or even the person i love," heath said. 

"L-love?" Alice stuttered in shock, but heath didnt hear her because he was still talking. 

"I fell in love with the littlest things you did. Its the type of love where you are totally consumed, drowning in it. But not drowning, more like swimming in it. Its toxic. You always seem to be on my mind. Its wonderful how it happened. It was so unexepected and so beautiful. I have never fel-" Heath was cut off from Alice getting up and walking out of the room and softly shutting door behind her. 

She walked into the maine house and went to scottys room. She thought that zane would be in there. But he wasnt. 

"Oh, sorry scotty. Do you know where zane is?" Alice asked quitley. 

"He left with david. Why?" Scotty asked. 

"He drove me here." Alice said while looking at the ground. She felt like she was inconveniencing him. 

"Oh, ill drive you home." Scotty said while hooping up off the bed. 

"Thanks." Alice said and headed outside to the car with him. 

The car ride was silent and that just gave alice time to feel guilty. She felt very guilty that she had just left him there after he had just told her he loved her. She didnt care that he loved her, because maybe she loved him too. She was just overwhelmed and  didnt know why he felt that way about her. 

'I dont understand, what did i do?' Alice wondered.
