Winter Embraced River

Part 3 : River

The eletric door opened itself.
Leaded by three armed guards, the new figure stepped into the office having the nameplate with designation of Senior Doctor, with another man walking besides him in a suit. The door closed behind and the new figure sealed the door with his fingerprint. He made a disgusted face as he looked into the mess that had been created. He adjusted his luxurious black velvet formals and an embroideried tie, before he signaled one of the guards to light his cigar.

Mr Snitch, current CEO, Genkin Labs.
Mr Crane, Senior Officer, Medical Wing, Genkin Labs.

Jack hid his displeased face upon seeing the two senior officials.

‘‘ Mr. Andrew Connor. I must say, this is a rather disappointing result from a highly worthy employee such as you. As such I am afraid this is unacceptable from even your part to cause this condition to our office, in which case I am guessing you have an explanation for having done all this. ’’ Mr Snitch cleared his throat, trying to hide his anger.

Jack turned to the man.
As much as he was angry then, he clamed his voice down. Maybe he should try for the last time. With the fact that Jack knew the consequences, he was just hoping he would sound concerned enough ‘‘ Sir with due respect, I want to reject the changes my seniors have requested to be made for... ’’

‘‘ Stop it right there! ’’ Crane rose his voice. ‘‘ I told you before many times. Its a NO! Don't forget who you work under! ’’ his senior stormed at him. He took some heavy steps towards him before threatning to fire him.

‘‘ Stop it at once! ’’ the CEO yelled.

The senior slowly retreated back upon the sudden statement, but he warned Jack before turning his back.

‘‘ Mr. Andrew, these changes have been suggested after a brief discussion and we hope that these will be for the overall improvement. ’’ Mr Snitch again continied, unswayed by Jack's request.

‘‘ I don't believe any of it. None of changes has even scratched the surface of showing any better sign. ’’ Jack miffed.

The man stood rigid as if he didn't hear his words. He took out his handheld, took a quick look into it and turned to Jack. He cleared his throat.

‘‘ Anyways, I came to inform you that we have two ghouls captured with us, from the subway. The one with ‘The Butterfly Kagune’. It turns out she's a female. As fate would have it, you were right about the boy not being a ghoul but it doesn't mean you will always be right, Mr Andrew. So, we want you to test the changes in the cure on them as soon they are brought back to the labs. We have your juniors disposed in the operating table already. ’’ he kept the phone back.

Jack's face appalled at his words. He gave a dazed look at them.

Was it true?
His heart started hammering. He felt his hands going numb. He turned to the man. He had an evil grin on his face.

‘ These are no improvements! You are just making the cure worse! It's a poision you damn...  ’’

‘‘ I am sorry Mr Andrew but that's the final order from me. I don't want any suggestions from you. I suppose you can keep your petty feedbacks and your language to yourself. ’’ the man cut him in.

Jack turned away. He promptly took out a plastic casing of a green serum from his desk drawer. Two of them. He had no time to argue with them. The officials always turned a deaf ear towards him. He picked up his bag and was about to leave from back door, when the CEO stopped him midway.

‘‘ Also Mr Andrew, We need you to leave that bag. Your assisstant has told us everything. I regret to inform you but we will have to suspended all the cure research you did yourself. ’’
