Singing in the Shower (Mythological Creature AU)

(Just so you guys know, I'm gonna make Eren some sort of siren-mermaid hybrid thing. I know that sirens are supposed to be half-bird-half-human, but I thought I would give it a little twist. Thanks!)

Living with a human being was quite interesting for Eren. He used to live in the sea, along with his family, which consisted of sirens. Yes, Eren was a siren who lived on land. 

To be quite honest, Eren enjoyed living with the "human people" (as he liked to call them). He found them to be so mundane, yet so interesting. He loved how humans were able to build cities without any magical powers. He thought technology was extremely fascinating. Also, all of the human beings that he met so far were very polite.

When he was younger and living in the ocean with his family, they all warned him about humans. They said that they were cruel and deserved to die. Sirens seduced sailors and brutally murdered them, but Eren never wanted to be like the others. He didn't want to live a life killing innocent people.

He lived a whole new life, disguised as a regular human being. He was happy and surrounded by nice people, instead of those mean, cold-hearted sirens. In fact, he was studying psychology in college, where he met his roommate.

He and his roommate, Armin, were living in a small, yet decent apartment. Armin was the only human who knew about Eren being a siren. Of course, he didn't believe it at first. But the way he found out about Eren's secret was a rather interesting story.

Eren was home alone one day. Armin was helping one of their classmates with their project, so Eren was left alone in the apartment. He occupied himself by watching television or surfing on the internet. The internet was one of Eren's most favourite things in the human world. 

After a while, he decided to take a shower. Armin wasn't home yet and Eren felt like he needed some time to let his mind wander. After he got into the shower, he started to sing. The water combined with his need to sing reminded him of living in the ocean. The good thing about singing in the shower by himself was that there was no one around to lure and murder. Eren couldn't imagine how guilty he would feel if he accidentally seduced someone.

But of course, Armin chose the worst time to come home.

Armin let out a sigh as he walked into his apartment, kind of glad to be home. 'Hopefully, Reiner doesn't need any more help.' he thought, placing down his tote bag. 

He was half-expecting Eren to greet him in the living room, but he found that the brunette wasn't sitting on the couch. Only his laptop was a sign of Eren recently being in the living room. 'Is he home?' Armin thought.

"Ere--!" Armin was about to call until he heard the faint sound of the shower running in the bathroom. Armin shrugged and was off to his room... until he heard, what sounded like, Eren singing in the shower.

"Let's say sunshine for everyone, but as far as I can remember..."

'Oh!' Armin was surprised when he heard Eren singing one of his favourite songs. 'I didn't even know that he liked that song.' 

"We've been migratory animals, living under changing weather..."

As Eren continued to sing, Armin found himself in a daze. Suddenly, he was beginning to focus on Eren's voice. That beautiful, hypnotising voice that seemed almost alluring and dangerous. Almost like... a siren's song. His song was like a chill breeze flowing from the sea, so calming and pleasing.

"Someday we will foresee obstacles, through the blizzard, through the blizzard,

Today we will sell our uniform, live together, live together..."

Without even noticing, Armin began to make his way towards Eren's voice. His mind was lost and his ocean blue eyes were glazed over, he was in a trance. He was lured by his best friend's voice. His steps were slow and steady, almost like he trying to keep quiet. Because of this, Eren didn't hear his friend out in the hall.

"We played hide and seek in waterfalls, we were younger, we were younger,

We played hide and seek in waterfalls, we were younger, we were younger..."

Eren stopped singing when he heard the bathroom door open, freezing in fear. Right when Eren stopped singing, Armin slowly began to return back to reality. Eren's voice faded away, and he finally found himself.

'Why am I in the bathroom?' Armin scrunched his eyebrows and looked around, not remembering what happened in the last minute. 

"Um, Armin? Is that you?" Eren asked. 'Shit! What if he heard me singing?'

"Y-yeah... it's me." Armin stammered, trying to remember what he came in the room for. All he remembered was getting home from Reiner's apartment, standing in the living room, hearing Eren sing.... and then, he was standing in the bathroom doorway.

"Are you okay? You sound nervous." Eren asked, hoping and praying that Armin didn't hear his voice.

"Yes, I just... forgot why I came in here." Armin explained, "Y-your singing is really nice, Eren."

Shit.

"Oh? Thanks." Eren would have been flattered, but he was too busy freaking out about the fact that he accidentally seduced his best friend! Of course! It was clear that if a human heard a siren's song, they would enter a trance. So if Armin heard his voice, that would only mean...

"Armin, you said you forgot why you came in here, right?"

"Uh, yeah."

"And you said that you heard my voice?"

"Yes?"

Eren sighed. He knew he had to reveal his secret to Armin eventually, they were best friends ever since Eren came to live on land. Armin had done so much for him, he couldn't keep this secret hidden away from him.

"Well... I have something to tell you."
