“This isn’t going to work”
“Of course it is, just keep nodding and smiling and all...”
“I hate facing huge crowds of people”
“Of course I knew that”
“Gah, you’re making this hard for me aren’t you?”
“Well, she did invite us to her show. It’s not every day The Karen Stars invites you to her show”
“Still...”
“Just don’t think and grab the moment, yeah?”
“Thank God Ms. Allowed me to even be seen on screen...can you imagine...”
“Shut up. Here we go”
The lights suddenly appear and are blinding. Instinctively, I grab for JC’s hand but guess what – it’s not there!
I then bump into one of those studio lamps that you see on TV interviews with those matching pink fluffy couches and wooden brown desks.
“Ow, that’s gonna leave a mark...”
“Oh my God are you ok??” Enter Karen’s chirpy on screen voice. I flutter my eyes slowly and see a blurry blonde in a blazer.
“She is strawberry chummy persian...” Says a muffled voice followed by roars
Strawberry? Persian? “Did you just call me a strawberry Persian?” My eyes and ears finally adjust only to find laughter and a laughing Karen.
“This is one cool friend of yours JC” Karen comments
And with that the interview and questions begin
------
“Those were the most embarrassing 75 minutes of my life”
“It wasn’t that bad...”
“Yeah, don’t count the parts where in I slammed into a studio lamp, fell of the couch, zoned out and don't forget how TV revealed my dress zipper half open. Everything was peachy fine!”
“That’s the spirit! You should have worn pants though...”
“Who told me to wear a dress in the first place??!!”
“It’s done! Just be chill! The crowd loved you anyway”
We were riding his car towards the studio. We were going to meet the 10 girls in his list there. He still doesn’t know of course but I guess I have to break it sooner or later before all his efforts go to waste.
“Run through the list for me, read out”
“Bossy as always” I run through the list of 10 girls from school and mini panicked when there were only 9.
“I don’t have all day, out with it”
“Um...Phoebe, Jane and Crystal who are Sophomores, Lily and Taylor from the Juniors and Chelsea, Sam and Jules who are Seniors.”
“Only 8?”
“Kath whom I have never heard of but I asked around and I have heard her sing so 9”
“Only 9?”
“Stop being pushy at least you have 9.”
“That’s not the case Megan. What if you didn’t count the person I’m looking for? That would be such a waste you get me?”
