"HENRY!" Katrina yelled as the others began to laugh. It was an ordinary day for Katrina, McKenzie, Kim and Henry. There they sit always goofing around at the lunch table, talking about random stuff, laughing. Laughing to fill in the silence, because sometimes silence is violent. Random conversations, because they didn't want to talk about the horrors that can happen in the future. Making fun of each other, because they never thought the world would end...not so soon anyways.
It was a Friday night, Pitch black, freezing cold, not a star in the sky as Katrina and McKenzie were walking on the street.
"Kat, what do you think will happen when we get older?" McKenzie asked sounding worried.
"We are only 14 McKenzie, don't worry about that for now."
"Yeah I guess your right, I'm sure it will be fine anyways."
What they didn't know is that not everything is fine. What they didn't know was something bad was coming, something that could change their lives forever.
"We should head inside it's freezing out here." Katrina suggested.
"Yeah let's go."
They walked into Katrina's house. Once they walked in there was Katrina's parents watching the news. McKenzie sat down on the couch as Katrina ran to find something to eat for the both of them. McKenzie didn't really like the news, she always thought it was boring but this time, there was something that drawn her attention.
"There has been an outbreak of a sickness in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. Scientist are not sure what this sickness is or how you get it, but it can be very dangerous! Hopefully we will have updates soon."
"Here McKenzie I made you a sandwich."
"Oh thanks, Kat"
"No problem, come on let's go to my room."
"But look, there's a new sickness in Georgia, what if it comes to New Orleans?!?"
"Calm down, im sure it's just a little flu, it will be fine"
Fine. Fine for now.
