Finally I was going to see him after so long. It's been awhile since we hanged out, actually it's been years. Since I moved out of Seoul, I haven't had the time or the money to go back and say hello.
I arrived at his house. The bus ride was ridiculously long with all the stops. But I was finally there.
I rang the bell. And, with his rectangular smile, Taehyung greeted me.
"HELLO! GOD, ITS BEEN A LONG WHILE! HOW ARE YOU!"
"It's been good. I miss you so much you have no idea. I sorta regret leaving Seoul."
"I can imagine it was obviously because of me. Who can live with out Tae?" He teased me and pulled me in his house.
"Let me get you some soda. Anything new?" He asked.
"Ah the you know. The people and the workplace and just everything is different from here but I like it. I needed this change, but damn can't you come with me?!" I whined, taking the soda from his hand.
"You know what I'm doing. If not I would have gladly gone to your place and stay."
"As in staying, you mean paying rent at my place, right?" I laughed.
"WHAT HAHA. You're funny." He said, handing me the can.
"So how's you and (insert Tae's fake girlfriend hue)"
"Pretty well. Not too long ago I took her out and she told me she couldn't wait for next time. She's adorable." His eyes smiled.
It must be nice to love. To have someone there for you no matter what.
"Cute. Where'd you take her?"
"I took her to the arcade and then rested at the park. Then we went to get ice cream." He said, sitting down on the sofa.
"Ah that totally sounds like you." I sipped my soda.
We kept talking for the rest of the night. I'm surprised there wasn't any phone calls from his girlfriend, but knowing Tae, he probably excitedly told her about me coming over.
We played board games, those games many people consider lame. Childhood memories rekindled with games like zero and kai bai boh. Tae won kai bai boh, forcing me to put on the ugliest face mask and run to the convenience store and get ramen. And, of course, he tagged along like the little puppy he is.
I ran, my face hot but the redness invisible under the mask. Tae laughed the whole way, looking at the people who passed by me. They stared at me with utter confusion. Some giggled and briskly walked passed.
We ran past various stores. I eventually grew tired and began walking, forgetting about the mask. As I was walking past an arcade, I saw this girl who seemed very familiar. She was embracing a guy, laughing and pecking him on the face.
"Tae..." I whispered.
"Yah~! KEEP WALKING!" He laughed, pushing me lightly. He stopped in his tracks and stopped laughing.
"Tae! Isn't she..."
"She..." He stopped looking there and took my wrist. He began running and running, swerving through the crowds of people. His face was straight, his eyes red and full of tears. His veiny hand held on tight to my wrist. My fingers had pins and needles.
