"You need to find something to ground you to reality" echoed Lonnie's mothers voice inside her head.
Taking deep breaths the blue haired girl pulled herself up in to a sitting position in the bathroom before leaning over and vomiting in the toilet.
She groaned when she finished, her stomach lingering on her belly. The aftermath of the small anxiety attack wearing away.
"Babe!" Yelled the man Lonnies only known for a month.
"Yes?" She called back. Opening the bathroom door just a crack.
"Make me something to eat!" He said, his cigarette dangling from his mouth.
The thought of food was almost enough to man her hurl again.
"Hun," she began, "I think I'm pregnant."
The tendril of smoke dissipated from around his head when he looked at her.
"What?" He asked sternly. The cigarette butt now on her carpet.
"I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant." She repeated. Looking downward to avoid his short fuse and his fist.
"You better not be you little slut!" He yelled shoving papers and candles off of the coffee table.
"We can't afford a child." He said looking at his knuckles, now white from gripping his hands so tightly.
"It'll work out. My mom can help with some things, you can get another job-"
A slap echoed through the small studio apartment. Lonnie raised up her hand and felt her stinging cheek.
"Don't tell me what I need to do." He said, shaking with fury. "You left your mom and you know damn well she's not going to want an irresponsible 17 year old. Let alone one that's pregnant."
His cruel laugh sent chills down her spine.
"You're right I guess." She said. Grabbing her purse and the keys she headed for the car.
"Where are you going?" He asked his hand digging into her arm. She yanked it free.
"To the store." She replied turning on her heel.

He didn't notice the pre packed suitcases in the car, or the small map she had glued to the inside of her visor. She was running back to her mother. The one who claimed she doesn't want her back.
Twenty minutes later when Lonnie arrived at a small blue house she walked the pale steps leading to the door, she set down her suitcases and knocked.
"Lonnie?" Came a women's voice. Lonnie released a few tears.
"It's me mommy."
She hugged her tightly when she pulled away. "Mom, in pregnant." She held up a small stick with 2 pink lines.
