Chapter 4

"Caspian! Darling!" Lady Denaris beamed walking towards her son with open arms, she was a small woman, petite and fragile with short wispy brown hair but something struck me that she was not a lady to mess with.

"Hello Mother." Ryker smiled taking her up in his arms "Father." he nodded to the big bellowing man standing behind his mother

"Hello son." He smiled slapping him on the back "And you must be Princess Cara." He smiled bowing slightly

I nodded with a small smile, feeling small myself "Please to meet you" I said softly

"Oh don't be shy sweetheart!" Lady Denaris said pulling me into a hug "We are family now." she tattered, Ryker lead us to the lounge whilst the Denaris' asked us all the approiate questions.

By the time noon had come around, i was exhausted, Lady Denaris had asked me 100 and 1 questions about my past and what i wanted for the future. It was tiring. And we still had to meet with the Prime Minister.

"Darling you look tired, shall i just meet with him?" Ryker asked me as we walked towards the drawing room

I shook my head "No, i would like to be apart of it." I smiled

"Are you sure? You know you can just go to bed?"

"No, I'm fine, once we begin organising it ill feel better." I said sitting down, "I'll rest here until he comes." I nodded leaning my he'd on my hands which rested on the edge of the armchair

Ryker nodded sitting in the chair opposite me. An hour passed before the Prime Minister arrived and once he did, it was straight to business and within another hour we were finished.

"So naturally we want it done as soon as possible." The prime minster smiled "But we will have to wait 3 months..." The prime minster twiddled his thumbs

"Why do we have to wait that long?" Ryker asked sounding eager

"Well..." The prime Minister began, it came back to me now, in my studies.

"They like to know there is a possibility of an heir." I said softly, the prime minister nodded

"What does that mean?" Ryker asked glancing from me to the Prime Minister then back to me

"I have to be pregnant." I said almost through clenched teeth, i didn't think it would have to be so soon, i knew id need to produce an heir, obviously "They have to know that we're fertile before they pronounce us King and Queen." I sighed "Its this law that was passed 40 years or so ago when Prince Devon and Princess Carline, my great aunty and uncle were infertile, so my grandfather had to take the throne." I explained, Ryker nodded slowly

"I understand." He smiled "That shouldn't be hard!" He winked at me, i felt my cheeks flush

"Right, that settles it then, i shall talk to you soon." The prime minister smiled standing and leaving the room with a curt nod.

I sighed and rubbed my eyebrows before i yawned

"No pressure then..." Ryker laughed following my yawn

I half laughed half sighed "I think i might head upstairs if you don't mind." I said with a small smile, Ryker nodded and waved his hand whilst i walked away. Once i left the room i practically ran up to my quarters. The room had been cleaned and my sheets changed, Ryker had his own living quarters that he would retire to when he wanted but this was ultimately the room we would share most nights, there was a door to one side that led to a powder room and one on the opposite side of the room that led to my sunroom. I walked through to the sunroom and allowed the warm sun to rest on my face, i closed my eyes and took it in. I felt at ease for the first time since we came only 24 hours ago. I slumped down on the lounge and let myself droop into a light nap, not thinking about the months to come.
