Chapter 2 Is He Still Alive

  I wake up, still in Jake's arms. I hear Lucy talking to a guy but I'm not quite sure who it is. I thought it was Justin but Justin just texted me to tell Lucy to turn her phone on. I look down the steps to see her talking to Mike. She was crying and saying she wanted to tell me something.  I run down the stairs. Mike looks at me with a really happy face. I smiled so big and wide and gave him the biggest hug ever. Mike was alive.

"Ari!! I am so sorry I worried you guys but I made a deal that I have to keep. I just came back to show you I'm ok. I'll be home when the deal is closed ok? Don't worry about me little sis. I'll be ok."

I give my brother a hug before he leaves. I go upstairs and go back to sleep. I wake up and Lucy is still asleep. I wake her up and ask her if Mike was really here.

"Ari are you ok? Mike wasn't here. I thought you said he was..... you know.

"I did. It must of been a dream. but I think he might still be alive. This has to be some kind of sign."

My mom walks up the stairs and tells us that breakfast is ready. I don't really feel like eating, but I have to or my family will suspect something weird. I am strolling trying to figure out what this sign meant. I don't think I should tell my parents or anyone except for Lucy and Jake. I will gain the courage soon.

I wake Justin and we all go downstairs for breakfast. It smells like Mike's favorite. Pancakes, bacon, and eggs. I know he is alive and out there, which is why we are gonna go out and look for him.

After breakfast I go upstairs and tell Jake and Lucy the plan. They agree and we all head out.

My mom stops me on the way out " Where you going sweetheart?"

I tell a bold faced lie to my mom " Just to the mall. You know a little get together with my best friend and my boyfriend. Is that ok?"

"Of course that's fine sweetie, just tell me at the end of the day if your coming back here or not. Ok?"

"Of course mom. Thanks."

We head towards Jake's car but stop in our tracks. There is a note in the windshield wiper. We all walk forward slowly. I picked up the note and read it aloud. It read,

Dear Ariana, Lucy, and Jake,

It's me Mike. I am still alive. I am so sorry to worry you. I am fine. Deals were made and need to be fulfilled. I'll be home soon. Don't worry about me.

"That's exactly what he told me in my dream!" I said with a surprised look on my face "I knew it was some kind of sign."

Jake got in the car and started it. I got in the front and Lucy slipped in the back. As we are driving, my phone goes off. It's Mike. He wants us to meet him at the park on Main St.

I told my friends what Mike said and we all went to the Main St Abandoned Park to meet Mike.

Mike's voice blurted from somewhere "Guys over here!"

It was so foggy I couldn't see anything. We kept walking and it was like we were walking right into the voice. We bumped into a table and felt on the top of it, a tape recorder. I pulled out my phone and turned on my flashlight. I turned the tape recorder off. On the side  of the tape recorder was a note that read,

I am so sorry I did this, but I had to. I was threatened by someone who shall remain anonymous. I'll be back in town in about 3 hours and I'll explain everything then. Once again I am so sorry. From Justin B.

I began to cry and Jake's warm hug comforted me and calmed me down I little but not enough. I pulled away from Jake and went over to Lucy.

"Your so called best boyfriend in the world just completely sabotaged us in a way that is just so.....so...... what the hell is wrong with your boyfriend. You need to have a serious talk with

him. This is the worst thing anyone has ever done to me!".

I bursted into tears again and ran to the car. I waited there until Jake and Lucy got in. When we got in the car, Lucy called Justin.

"What the hell was that!? Are you psycho? Who would do something like that? Your mind must be sick. My best friend is crying her eyes out because of you. When you get to town you are going to apologize to Ariana and tell us what the hell is going on. Do you understand me?!"

On the other line I didn't here much except for I'll be at your hour in 10.

We drove to Lucy's house and Justin was outside waiting.

Lucy got out the car and slammed the door. She stomped up to Justin. Me and Jake got out the car.

She said " Speak!!"

Justin replied " I think we should go inside for this. Are your parents home?"

"No not for a few days they're on a business trip until next Friday."

"Good because it's better no one hear about this."

We all go into Lucy's house an take a seat in the living room.

Justin starts speaking "Ok. So a man named Robert Spearman pulled me into a backstage closet and told me that I'd better do this or he'd hurt you guys. So I did what was best. I didn't want anything to happen to you guys. Your all my best friends. And Ari, I am extremely sorry."

Lucy gave him a big jug and apologized. I also apologized to Lucy. We all went to the kitchen for a snack but as we passed an empty room, we saw a horrifying sight.
