My eyes widened at his declaration and I shivered at the sound of his voice. Although beautiful, he was a frightening man, who lived up to every rumor of cruelty and fierceness. And now I was stuck with him for life, apparently.

I sucked up my misery and stood in front of my mate, who so happened to be the Alpha King. If he was to be my mate I might as well give him a chance. Who knows, maybe I can change some of his silly customs

He ran to be and gently untied the gag, allowing me to speak.

"Your highness, I broke one of your laws, to kill the challenger in a battle to the death match." I began "These men did their duty by bringing me here and if they deserve punishment for doing their duty, I deserve punishment for breaking your law." I spoke confidently, despite my shivering insides.

"My mate," The King said in a gentle voice that made my wolf prance around my head "whatever you have heard about me, is true. I will punish those I see fit and you my dear,are not fit for punishment. So run along to my chambers and wait for me there while I do what I must."

"They cannot die or be sent to prison!" I pleaded him.

He looked at me surprised before smiling.

"Of course my love, they will live their lives out of prison"

I sighed in relief and turned to leave the hall, glancing back to see grateful eyes staring back at me. But also fear. Why would they be scared of me? I tried to move on and instead let myself be led to the Kings chamber.

About 20 minutes later, the king sauntered in, looking proud of himself, before the pride was replaced with lust.

"We will marry. In a fortnight. We will consummate the marriage as soon as possible."

"Ah, my king, wouldn't it be better to leave it a bit longer? After all, I do not even know these people, and my family is still at the NightShadow Pack." I spoke hesitantly, trying to trick him into allowing more time.

"No. We will marry in a fortnight. Tell your parents now by letter and have them arrive in 7 days, no more" he declared.

This will be a long life if I must spend it with him...
