Bang.
The first thing to go was my sight. I was slightly grateful for that because I couldn't see the extent of the damage as I fell to the floor. When I hit the floor the impact seemed to knock my sense of touch away. I couldn't feel the floor beneath my body. Shortly after my sense of smell was gone as well. The smell of gunpowder and smoke disappearing as if the were never there. After that my sense of taste was gone. The blood on my tongue seemingly evaporated into thin air. The last thing to go was my hearing. The screams of my parents the last thing I heard as I drifted away from the world.

Then, I was flowting through nothingness. Only darkness. No sight. No touch. No smell. No taste. No sound. Absolutely nothing.

Suddenly I could hear birds chirping and wind rustling through leaves. I could taste the fresh air and smell pine wood and flowers. I could feel the breeze rush over my exposed skin and the spongy grass beneath my feet. Finally my sight returned and I saw where I was. I was in a pine forest. Trees surrounding me while spongy moss covered the ground. Leaves, sticks, and flowers scattered around me. I looked around only to find a door behind me. I hesitantly walked towards the door, reaching my hand out to touch it, to feel if it was real. My hand made contact with solid wood and I was utterly confused. Why was a door in the middle of the forest? I walked to the other side of the door to see where it lead but I could find no conections. I returned to to the first side and stared at it. I reached towards the doorknob and turned my wrist. I gave a slight push and the door opened halfway. A warm golden light poured through the opening. It felt welcoming. I stepped into the light and closed the door behind me.
