I remember the way to Volterra and knew it was about a hour drive. It was a very awkward drive to the mall and retracing the steps to the Volturi castle was simple. I tried to concentrate on a realistic plan to escape.

Jump out the car ...,

No, Felix will catch us.

Car accent?

Felix can still catch us.

Not if a certain car slows him down.

I saw an image of the car running him over. I winced.

"Are you okay? Leah." He touched my shoulder pulling me in focus. The car was on the side of a highway.

I looked around confused.

I was driving while you spaced out. You're welcome.

"We ran out of gas." Felix told me. "Wait here. I'll go to the gas station. It's not to far."

You can drive?

I learned from your memories.

He got out of the car and left me alone in the middle of the highway. I eyed the setting sun questioning my options.

Do it already.

I waited a good minute before I got out the car, shifted and my wolf ran to a nearby city.

I didn't slow down in fear of being seen and stopped only when I saw a empty alley between to buildings and a promising clothes line.

I shifted back human and instantly felt a cold hand on my mouth.

"Scream and I'll have to kill you." I heard my dear mate whisper in my ear.

I took ahold of his shirt and sent him flying over my head. When he fell to the ground I made an attempt to run but he picked me up and threw me on his shoulder.

Insisted of panicking, I flipped over his shoulder and kicked him in the back. When he faced me for the first time I felt he would kill me. He eyes clouded over deep black I tried to run but found myself cornered by the brick wall.

He held me by the throat and with his other hand made a fist to hit me.

At first I thought time slowed because I was about to die. Until I realized Felix stood still and only his eyes changed back to it's rich red. He dropped his hand and avoided  my gaze.

"If you go Aro will kill me." Felix said eying the wall behind me.

"Why are you even with them?" I asked him. It didn't take a genius to figure out that he didn't like Aro.

"Slaves don't choose their master." Felix told me.

Slave my wolf gasp at the word and almost smiled. I'm not mated to a sociopath.

"Come with me then. I can hide you in Folks you can tell everyone everything you know. You can win the war for us." I smiled at the thought of him in Folks with me and the Volturi far far away from us.

Felix laugh snapped me out my daydream, "hide?"

I nodded at him. It really isn't a hard concept.

"Leah" he placed his hands on my shoulders and said slowly, "You can't run from the Volturi, trust me."

His eyes quickly traveled down my legs and up to my face. Then he quickly looked away.

I gasp when I remembered I was naked and tried my best cover myself.

"Just runaway." Felix said hand covering his closed eyes.

I stared at the creature in front of me, who kill millions of humans and drink their blood was covering his eyes to give me privacy.

When he didn't hear me shifted or move, he uncovered his eyes for a second and then looked away. After a few seconds he look back. "Why?"

"I can always runaway again when it's not at your expense." He looked at me questionably. "But Felix, look away. This is really weird."

He quickly turned and hand me his coat. I looked up at the clothing line.

"We don't need to steal the working class clothes. You have clothes in the car." He told me.

I pulled on the coat and eyed Felix, "What's with you and gray coats?"

"It's my uniform. Let's get to the car." He lead the to the car wear I changed and waited for him in the driver's seat.

"You're really going back?" He asked me.

"I am."

"Is it because I'm your mate?" He asked me.

"No" I glanced at him, "I don't want to leave at the expanse of you're life. Especially since you don't do what you do because you like it."

"And if I liked it?"

"Screw you. I mean my life would be clearly more valuable."

"I kill people because I like it."

I eyed him, he looked dead serious. "Then why don't you kill me?" I started the engine. Felix looked out the window.

"I can't tell if you are daydream or a nightmare."
