Chapter 5 Hangover

( Y/N)'s P.O.V

"Got you~" Chara whispers seductively. She then gets off of me & starts laughing. "The look on your face!" She says, as I stare at her dumbfounded. It takes a second, but I then realize she had been pranking me. "What the hell Chara!" I yell at her sitting up. "Payback for your surprise kiss earlier today." She says calming down. "That was way too far, you bit my ear!" I yell as she starts getting closer to me. "Don't mess with the best." She says wrapping her arms around my neck. "And sorry about the ear biting thing. I think the whiskey was kicking back in." She says rubbing her neck & yawning. Almost immediately she falls forward into my chest, sleeping. "I'll get you back." I say quietly as I lay Chara down on the bed with me. I soon start to fall asleep as well, holding Chara close to me. She starts to nuzzle up into my chest, & curl up into a ball. I pull the covers over us & go to sleep as well.

Time Skip morning ... or night it's hard to tell time in the underground

I wake up & see Chara still sleeping peacefully. "You know , you're a lot cuter then you think." I whisper to her while she sleeps. I then remember some of the things Chara said & did last night. My biggest question being if she really wanted me to ask about her. I planned to do it over time once our friendship had grown. As I close my eyes again, Chara starts to move around in her sleep. She then wakes up groaning. "(Y/N)! My head hurts!" She complains lightly hitting me in the chest. "How much Whiskey did you drink." I ask with a sigh. "My head hurts to much to drink." She says. "You mean think." I tell her getting out of the bed. "Just hold on a sec." I say looking around the room.

"Here." I say handing Chara a trash can. She stares at it then looks at me. "In case you need to throw up." I say putting the trash can in front of her. "I don't need this, my head just hurts!" She whines. I laugh & sit next to her. "Just chill out for now." I tell her. She groans. "Really (Y/N)?" She says making me laugh. "Yeah, stay here I'll be right back." I say standing up & preparing to leave. "Where are you going?" I hear Chara ask. "Go get you a water or tea." I say leaving the room & heading to Grillbys.

Chara's P.O.V

I watch as (Y/N) leaves the room. I probably should've gone with him. Even if I'm hung over I still need to protect him. Stupid humans can barely even protect themselves. "What happened last night?" I ask myself trying to remember what happened, but only making my head hurt worse. I could only remember a bit of last night. The main thing being when I started my prank & when it ended. Everything before, after, & in between is all a big blur. "I wonder what else happened, maybe I'll just ask (Y/N)." I say a loud. "I wonder if he left any chocolate for me." I say about to stand up, but I immediately flop back on the bed. I lay there for a second staring at the ceiling. "Why did I chose (Y/N) to be my partner?" I question myself. After a couple minutes (Y/N) arrives with a cup.

"Here, it's water." (Y/N) says handing me the cup. I take the cup & start to drink it. When I finish I notice (Y/N) staring at me. "What're you looking at?" I say kind of rudely. He just continues smiling. "I don't know, that's what I'm trying to figure out." He says jokingly. "You're really gonna go there?" I ask him, he just nods. "Whatever." I say laying down on the bed. "Hey (Y/N), how'd you know what to do for a hangover?" I ask actually kind of curious. "Oh, my family on the surface could sometimes go over board too." He says laughing. Humans are always doing stupid stuff. "Hey Chara, can I ask you something?" He says. "You just did." I say back. "Well can I ask you two things then?" He says, I just shrug. "Go for it." I tell him sitting up.

(Y/N)'s P.O.V

When Chara sits up on the bed I take a seat on the bed, while taking a deep breath. "Last night you wanted to know why I didn't ask about you in any way." I tell her. She try's to think back on it, but shrugs. "Never mind then, don't worry about it at least not until your heads feeling better." I say laying down on the bed. "You're different." I hear Chara mumble under her breath. I can't help, but smile at this.

We both sit in the room not really talking or doing anything for that matter. I decide to break the silence since it's getting a bit awkward. "Hey Chara?" I say trying to get her attention. She doesn't say anything so I sit up & start looking for her. The rooms not that big so it doesn't take long to check & know she's not in the room. I start to panic & rush downstairs, out the door. Immediately as I rush out the door I'm knocked back on the ground.

I look up to see an angry Chara. "What the hell (Y/N)!" She yells. I quickly jump up & try to tackle her into a hug, but she dodges out the way. "What are you doing?" She asks calming down a bit. "Where were you?" I ask. She looks at me confused. "I told you I was going out." She says. I start to think back, but I can't remember her ever saying that. 'Did I not hear her?' I think to myself. I get up off the ground & help Chara up as well. "You ready to go now?" She asks. "Where?" I say back. "(Y/N), are you drunk? I told you earlier that we were leaving when I got back." She says.

"We're leaving?" I ask sounding a bit stupid. " Yes, now can we go?" She asks. All I do is nod. As Chara walks out the inn, I can't help, but to think. 'How did I just forget everything she said?" I ask myself.

As I walk out the inn Chara stares me down. "What?" I ask looking her in the eyes. "We can stay in Snowdin for a little longer considering you seem to out of focus to fight anyone." She says holding out her hand out. "What?" I ask again. "In exchange for staying here, you owe me some chocolate." She says. I check my hoodie pockets & notice nothings in it. "(Y/N) don't you usually check your pants pocket?" Chara asks. I search my pants pocket & she was right, there's still a decent amount of candy. I hand Chara a chocolate bar. "What's wrong with you today?" She asks. I shrug. "No clue. Where did you go anyways?" I ask.

"Grillbys, I got hungry." She says. "Alright, I guess." I say. Just like that it seems as if none of this even happened. "Hey Chara?" I say. "What?" She asks. I tackle her into the snow hugging her. She try's to push me away, but I manage to hold on. "Let's spend the day together." I tell her. She stares at me for a second with a confused look. "Really?" She asks. "Yup, I want to ask you some questions now." I say standing up & helping Chara off the ground. "Alright." She says brushing herself off. "Let's start with something simple. What was it like down here for you?" I ask. "It was nice, the king took me in & made me part of there family. They loved me, I even had a little brother." She says looking a little sad. "Sorry if that brought up bad memories." I say. "Don't worry I'm over it." She tells me.

"Next question, how did you get down here?" I ask. "I jumped in." She says. "Really, why?" I ask extremely curious. "I thought it would kill me." She says. "Then why did you jump?" I ask hoping there's a different reason then what I was thinking. "Figured if I didn't die from the fall, I'd die by the monsters." She says with a shrug. "How can you do that?" I ask getting upset. "Do what?" Chara asks staring at me. "Want to kill yourself!" I scream angry. "No matter what happened up there it should never lead to killing yourself!" I yell. "(Y/N) listen you got no clue what I went through back when I was alive & on the surface." She says. "Oh really, what was so bad you decided to kill yourself?" I ask. Chara looks down thinking back on memories. "I'm not talking about this with you." She says with a blank tone.

'I messed up didn't I?' I think to myself calming down. I walk over to Chara & try to pull her into a hug. She slaps my hand down. "Don't follow me." Chara says in a blank tone disappearing. "Wait, Chara I'm sorry I should've handled that situation better. Please come out." I say trying to feel her presence. It feels as if she completely disappeared. Almost like she was never here.
