I had to go the the hospital an hour or so later when we finally got everything cleaned up. Andrew spent most of the time being muttered at by Drake or apologizing to me looking downcast. I hontstly felt sorry for him but my throbbing in my hand reminded me why I was going to the hospital in the first place.
In the vet room he had kept smiling like a goof when he looked at the pink shampoo in my hair. He finished Tinkerbells bath and got we dried while I one handedly loaded the sharp tools into the sanatizer. It cleaned them from any germs they picked up from the ground and I washed the one that got me all bloodied up.
On the way to the hospital I got to take in the small town. Everything was close together here. The shops were all on a boardwalk style street with wooden sidewalks and metal inground street lamps. Where the burrito bar ended the movie theater started. I absolutely loved it!
They didn't have a mall but it sure beat walking forever to get lunch and then forever again to get to the movie on time. I couldn't drive yet and was looking forward the the convenience.
The lights in the railing of the board walk glittered as we drove through the night. The sun had set and it was around eight when we pulled into the emergency room parking lot. I didn't even know we had reached the hospital, then I got a look around.
We had suddenly left the little town behind and were in an alive city with towering hotels and business buildings. I was a little dizzy from it all but maybe that was just the blood loss acting up.
Drake ushered me in and I was put in an ugly hospital gown and walked to the sugary room. I hated hospitals. Did I mention that? After just recently being through the car accident and the whole nine yards I was petrified even the smell of steralizer spray was bringing back unplesent memories.
I began to hyperventilate and panic. Drake shouted at the doctor and Andrew started rubbing my back and trying to calm me down. I would have none if that though. I started to scream and cover my face in my hand to wipe away tears that began to run down my face. I was standing in the middle of the hallway in a hospital gown screaming and bleeding, and people were staring. That freaked me out even more and my mind couldn't take it. The last thing I felt was strong arms, or waves I couldn't tell, rocking me from side to side as I rolled my eyes into the back of my head and fainted. Right there in front of everyone. I'm sure I was attractive. Not.
I woke up and a florescent light was beaming down in my face flickering ever so slightly. The beeping of a monoter was keeping a steady beat and the flickering wasent happening in rythem. For some reason that bugged me. I slowly opened and closed my jaw which was cramping and made a grunting sound as I sat up in bed. The room around me was small and I wasnt sharing with anyone so there wasent one of the curtins blocking my view of the ocean.
Out the large sunny window the ocean came and went on the shore. There were poeple walking around in the early morning collecting shells and whatnot. I saw a little boy start running along the sand with a big shell in his hand. He cought up to his mother a few yards away and excitedly showed her his finding. The mom bent over and picked him up, setting him on her hip, and hugged him as they walked away. He had dropped a smaller shell in the process and I couldnt help but wonder if he would miss it.
The door squeeked open and a lady with a big head of curly hair walked in. "Oh, hi you are awake! Good because youre Uncle has been waiting all night to see you up and well, Ill go get him for you." and she was out the door before I could say thank you. People move fast like that. I almost felt bad, then I looked out the window again. A wave had come and washed the forgotten shell away from the mornign sand and the footprints of the mom and her son away with them. I couldnt help but feel bad for that forgotten shell. We both had been left not necessarily on purpose, and swept back into the tide.
"Hey Kiwi, how ya been?" Drake asked as soon as he walked in the door. I couldnt understand why everyone was making such a big deal over my hand, I mean it was just a cut. "Well its only a hand wound and the stiches feel fine, when can I go home?" I didnt mean to be blunt about it but seroiusly it was just a cut. I mean a deep one but still. Then it hit me, I had passed out in the hallway. I inwardly growned. Everyone in the waiting room had seen me burst into tears and fall. Great humiliating and embarasing. Just what needed. Now I relaly wanted to leave.
"Well if your in a hurry we can see if you can get discharged in the next hour." Drake said sitting on the edge of the bed. He took my good hand in his, "Are you okay? You had us all scared with what happened in the halls. I thought you lost to much blood or something." Drake said softly. He sounded so concerned I couldnt tell him the truth. "Ya the blood loss made my... head feel really light.... and I just got super dissy." I came up with on the spot. I am not such a good liar if you cant tell.
"Well then you are free to go." said Nurse crazy curls walking in and handing Drake a clipboard. "Only a hundred, her old insurance covers the most of it." She tried to whisper to him without me hearing. I knew Drake was pridfull about his money so i didnt say anything about it. I changed the subject instead, "My cloths I came in, are they in here?" I inturepted. "Yep, right in the chair." The nurse pointed to a blue recliner in the corner of the room which held a plastic bag holding my cloths. "I'll let you change, come out when your ready and we will head home." Drake instructed placing the clopboard back in the nurses hands on his way out.
As I was pulling my shorts on I reached to grab my shirt and someone burst through the door. One hand holding my shirt over my exposed bra and chest, the other went into a fist and was held slightly behind my head at the ready. "Hey they just told me you were.... Oh my gosh I am sooo sorry!" Andrew burst out. "Dont hit me please!" He skwaked as I cocked my fist further back in shock. "Hey! Out out out!" I yelled. He quickly covered his eyes and turned and ran, right into the door. Small yay for not being the only clumsy one! I pulled my shirt over my head whilst calling to him, "Andrew oh gosh are you okay?"
Using the door as leverage Andrew stood up cluching his head. When he was up he shielded his eyes again. "Im dressed now klutz dont worry no more running into a door." I scoffed to him. "Sorry for being respectable." He mumbled lookin up as if to see the bump on his hairline and rubbing it with his now free hands. I giggled and walked by him to the hallway. "Drake is in the parking lot I met him on my way in here, he said to head out there. He told me you were concious now not changing or I wouldnt have walked in I am so sorry." He explained in a ramble, "Trust me I would not have done that, I glad your okay though I thought the passing out thing was my fault with the scalpel incident." He finished running a hand through his hair making it messy in that good looking kind of way.
"Oh dont worry It wasnt your fault for me passing out, but ya know I think you ran into the door as punishment for not knocking." I said looking up at him as we walked through the hospital halls. "Haha, Ya that would make sense. I will always knock from now on I promise." He said kncking on the door of the elevator we were about to enter, making me laugh with him.
We settled into an understanding silence for a few moments until he broke the silence, "Ya know, we should have our own show, The Two Klutz's. We dont even need a third stooge." He stated with such certinty I had to laugh. We walked out of the elevator still laughing. It was just what I needed to distract myself from the surroundings of smells, sights, and sounds of the hospital. If I was ever in another one of these, it would be to soon.
