-Chapter Two: Scream-
Skye’s POV-
Skye walked quickly down the path, humming to herself as she walked and scuffing her feet gently on the gravel. Burying her hands deeper into her pockets, she sniffed delicately; it was getting colder nowadays and since it was still February it wouldn’t be getting any warmer for a while.
Everything around her was currently covered in a thin, shiny layer of frost and it sparkled in the afternoon sun. Birds sat in the trees and the branches, singing their little hearts out. It was a beautiful sound to hear and it was the type of song that you could only love.
Skye was simply filled with happiness at the moment; she couldn’t imagine her life getting any better than it already was. She has the perfect boyfriend and that wasn’t even an exaggeration. Not only that, but she had the best friends a girl could wish for and great parents and brother. She couldn’t wish for anything more.
Later today she would be on the train to Sheffield with Oliver and they’d be going to her favourite restaurant, ‘Undersea Gardens’, she just couldn’t wait. She giggled to herself as the thought about what else Olly might have planned. He had told her that there was more than just going to the restaurant to look forward to and she was very curious and excited.
Skye and Olly had been together for all of five months and those five months had been the best of both their lives. They had been in each others classes at the beginning of the school year and barely knew that each other existed. That was until Allie introduced them and they hadn’t looked back since. Skye couldn’t imagine it any other way now.
A cool breeze blew through Skye’s golden blonde hair and messed it up. Skye ran a hand through her tangled hair, undoing the knots and smoothed it out again, so that it curled freely down her back. She looked up to the sky above; the crystal blue colour matched that of her eyes, and saw that the clouds moved quickly through the air with the breeze.
She was almost at the school’s large, red entrance and she looked back down the path she had just come along. It had only taken her a few minutes to walk to the entrance, but she had walked so far that she couldn’t see Olly, or in fact, anybody.
That’s when it happened. Just as she walked down the final bit of the path and went to open the school doors, someone grabbed her around the waist, pulling her back towards a side path which led to the school field and the school’s exit. She tried to scream, but before any noise could escape from her mouth, a sweaty hand clamped firmly down on her mouth.
Skye started panicking, kicking out violently toward the guy’s, she assumed it was a guy, legs. But she wasn’t strong enough, she was a weak match for him and soon she gave up fighting and just went limp in the guy’s arms. She may not be able to force him off her, but if she tried to be dead weight, then maybe he’d drop her.
Unfortunately she had no such luck. He kept his grip on her well and he barely let her take a sufficient breath in and out. His muscled arms, strong as steel bars were wrapped around Skye in an unbreakable chain.
Skye looked around, her sparkly blue eyes wide and full of terror. Her attacker started to jog away towards the exit and even with Skye in his arms he seemed to have no trouble with it at all. She looked up at him and luckily for her he wasn’t paying attention to where she was looking. He appeared to be about twenty, he was well built and was very tall.
When they had made it to the gates, Skye’s attacker looked quickly around behind him and looked around the grounds. Skye too tried searching for someone, anyone, to help her; but to no avail, because there was no one in sight. Then the man’s hand slipped from her mouth and she shouted out.
‘Olly!! Olly,’ she cried, and then screamed, just before the man’s hand grasped her mouth again, forcing her into silence. His arms tightened around her and she struggled to breath, as her lungs were constricted and her heart was beating madly in her chest.
She was getting very desperate now and she just hoped that Olly was safe from harm. Fear built up inside her, overwhelming her completely and she cried and cried. She cried her Olly, she cried her Allie and Kyle, she cried for her family and she cried for herself, for she doubted any good would ever come from this.
Suddenly, she felt the arms around her loosen and release her and she opened her eyes, to see a black van parked on the side of the road next to the school field. A man climbed out of it, the man appeared to be her attacker’s twin, and he opened the side door of the van and looked towards them.
Skye’s attacker then promptly crossed the road, looked for non-existent witnesses and then threw her into the back of the large van and climbed in after her. She violently hit her head against the cold wall of the van, and felt warmth begin to grow at the top of her head. She lifted her hand to her head, and then realised her hair was matted and her hand was covered in bright red blood.
Slowly Skye’s eyes began to close, and the throbbing in her head dulled as sleepiness overwhelmed her completely. Blinking, she tried to stay alert and awake, but the cut in her head was obviously making her tired and she soon felt like she was floating into a sleepy haze.
The last thing Skye remembered, was blankly watching as the twin slid the van’s door shut loudly and darkness filling the space she was in. Then she lay down on the wooden floor of the van and closed her eyes, finally giving into sleep.
* * * * * *
Skye awoke to a lot of loud shouts that came from a little wooden building that was to the right of her. She appeared to be in the woods, and whichever direction she looked in she could only see trees, hundreds of trees. Endless trees, it made her feel enclosed and claustrophobic, like there was no escape. This of course was true.
Yawning, Skye tried to stretch, but then realised that she was bound. During her little sleep, one of the men, or someone else, had bound her wrists and ankles tightly with rope. She looked curiously at the wooden building and then to her wrists. Feeling helpless, she started to sob and pull at the ropes.
Skye struggled beneath the ropes that tied her; she twisted and turned, hoping to pull free from their grip on her. The ropes however, were tied tightly and no matter how much she tugged at them they would not release her even slightly.
She cried out in pain as the ropes cut deeply into her flesh, obviously the ropes weren’t just made of string. Intertwined in the thick grey rope, was thin strings on sharp metal and the metal cut into her skin, leaving red marks and grooves in her skin.
Screaming out again, Skye lied back down on the floor and carefully curled herself into a little ball and cried and screamed. She did this continuously until her throat ached, cheeks were covered in dried and fresh tears and her eyes were sore. Only then, when her cries became quieter and softer, did she notice that there was silence around her. The shouts from the building next to her were gone and all she could hear was her heartbeat and the wind in the trees.
Then she heard a movement in the trees and she turned over quickly, causing the ropes to rip deeper into her skin and her to cry out in pain. Silencing herself, she opened her eyes to see a tall man, her kidnapper, standing over her.
A look of pure hatred filled his features, “What are we going to do with you pretty?” He spoke, his voice husky and then, he smiled.
Skye screamed.
