Ellie Malcolm hated English class.

She had dyslexia, so she had trouble in English class, which led to her hating it. Her school, Manhattan High School of Arts and Sciences, had done their best to make sure she was getting the help she needed because of her dyslexia. The school had been sure that she understood what she was learning and they even offered to pay for her to get a private tutor.

Ellie Malcolm liked her high school.

She had a friend there named Grover. He was nice and funny. He encouraged her to be the best she could be and she appreciated that. He didn't think that her dyslexia was bad, he thought it made her stronger and it did, but Ellie didn't need to know why it would only put her at risk.

"Ms. Malcolm, would you please tell me what the writing on the board says? Yes, I am aware that it is in Greek, but I have been informed that the students at this school take Greek, so you shouldn't have any problem reading it," Ms. Jones, the substitute said.

As Ellie looked at the writing on the board, the letters seemed to move around until the Greek phrase was no longer in Greek, but in English. That confused Ellie, she didn't understand why the letters suddenly moved around while she was looking at them. It was as if her brain was wired to understand Greek.

"It says, 'Those who enter will never leave'," Ellie said, looking at Ms. Jones.

"Very good, Ms. Malcolm, it's good to know that you study your Greek outside of class," Ms. Jones said.

Ms. Jones went back to teaching and Grover leaned over to Ellie and whispered, "I knew you were doing well in Greek, but I didn't know you were doing that well."

"I'm not doing well in Greek, though, I can barely say 'hello, my name is Ellie'. I'm not sure how I understood it at all, it's like the letters just moved around until it was in English," Ellie whispered back.

Ms. Jones had heard what Ellie had said, She smirked as she was facing the board. She didn't think it would be that easy to find the demigod, but that just made her job easier for her.

Grover knew what that meant. He knew that she was a demigod. Her brain was wired for Greek, it was just a matter of when it would start understanding Greek. The fact that she was able to read Greek just meant that the monsters would start noticing her. It meant that she needed to get to Camp Half-Blood and soon.
