This one isn't a part three of the previous two it's just some bullshit I thought was funny and stupid
But there's also some light angst to so be prepared"We're sorry, but we can't give you the part."
"What?"
Jamie was one of the many drama and theater loving kids in the school, and one of the lucky ones who'd usually end up with main roles. He had read the script front to back and had practiced day and night, and after performing it for a few of his friends they practically guaranteed he'd get the part. He heard around that Kevin was going to be ordering some flowers for someone from the other greasers. Jamie adjusted his glasses.
"We're very sorry but we can't give you the part. We've already been forced to choose."
"Forced?"
Jamie didn't really mind the fact that he didn't get the part, it was more the reason why. So like any normal, rational, well put together high school student, he went to his boyfriends house and cried into his shoulder for a full five minutes before even mentioning what had happened. Kevin rubbed his back as he rocked back and forth slightly. After all, with a dramatic boyfriend he was used to comforting him.
"What's wrong, J?" Kevin was barely heard over Jamie's sniffles.
"Some kid was already chosen because his parents threatened to sue the school if he didn't get the part! It doesn't even make sense! The kid has stage fright and doesn't even like acting!"
"They what?!" Kevin was even more livid than his boyfriend.
"They can't just do that to you because some assholes threatened to sue, you're the one with the actual talent!"
"Thanks, Kevin, but we can't do anything about it. But I was saved some front row seats for the premier. As if I want to see it.. but don't worry about it. I'm fine."
"You've been sobbing into my shoulder for the past five minutes. Fine is not a word I'd use here." Jamie was tired from crying and just tried to rest, to get over the fact that no other student with acting skills would get a chance to be in the spotlight. He was starting to fall asleep, and his breath was starting to regulate.
"Don't worry. We'll get 'em," Kevin said, just before Jamie fell asleep.
--A week passed, and then came the Friday of the premier. Of course with most school productions they performed them during school hours so the kids who couldn't make the actual performance got a chance to see it. Jamie tried to be positive about it, but as he watched that kid up there in the starring song, attempting to dance in his white suit, and missing his lines and lyrics numerous times, he couldn't help but feel bad for him. He glanced over a few rows to see Kevin smirking about something, yet the rest of the performance passed without incident, if you don't count the star's horrible stage fright.
Later that night Kevin picked him up in his car to drive him to the premier, although Jamie didn't understand why he would take him. Maybe he saw it as a date, but Jamie saw it as an insult. He tried not to think about it, it would be over in a few hours. They had arrived in the school parking lot about ten minutes before anyone else would get there. Except of course, the cast. They had arrived in the main hall, and Kevin hiked his backpack up on his shoulders.
"Hey, stay here, okay? I have some.. unfinished business," he then walked down one of the halls, away from Jamie. He felt kind of abandoned, kind of hurt, and insulted. His boyfriend had brought him to a play that had a totally unfair casting and even worse, he had abandoned him when they first got there. Of course he was used to Kevin having "unfinished business" because he had plenty of enemies, but in this moment, as he looked down at the floor, kicking a bit of litter into a corner, he didn't feel like anything was justified except for his emotions.
A bit before people came in through the doors, Kevin had returned, yet it seemed his backpack sat a little easier on his shoulders, as if something was taken out of it, but Jamie was too distracted by his emotions to care about such a minor detail.
When they had settled into two seats next to each other in the front, the play had started. It was uncomfortable for Jamie to watch the main character forget his lines time after time yet at the same time feel disrespected for being taken to something reminding him of his and his fellow actors of their failures. He remembered earlier when the other students in his drama class got so pissed about how they picked the cast, and how they said they were sure Jamie would get it. But he was taken out of his thoughts when he felt Kevin's elbow jabbing his side on purpose.
"What?" Jamie whisper yelled.
"Watch the background characters."
"Wha-," his line of speech was broken by seeing most of the characters running off the stage in all different directions except for straight off the front. He suddenly remembered something his drama teacher had said.
"If you ever feel sick during a performance, just go off backstage discreetly." But this was not discreetly, for the cast was running and there were far too many to not notice. Then, the song the play was best known far started, and the main character, in his white suit took center stage, froze, and shat himself. The audience laughed hysterically, and the white suited kid had run off the stage, incredibly embarrassed. Jamie barely had a chance to register what had happened when Kevin took advantage of the uproar, grabbed him by the arm and led him out of the auditorium, through the halls, outside, and into the car. Once the doors were closed, Kevin slid down into his seat, laughing his ass off.
"I didn't think it would, work, that, perfectly- hHAH!"
"What? How did you-?"
"You know how I said we'd get them? Well I was rummaging through this book- yeah, that's a first- and I found this great recipe for laxative muffins. So I made some, brought them as a good luck gift for the cast, and gave the worst one to that kid who's parents threatened to sue, and as luck would have it, it happened right in the middle of the big song. That'll teach 'em."
Jamie tried to be mad about Kevin getting himself into more trouble than he was already in on a daily basis, but in all honesty, it was pretty genius.
"I want to be mad, but, did you really do that for me? You got revenge on someone that didn't even do anything to you? That was really nice."
"Why thank you, I knew it was a great plan, and it turned out great, if I do say so myself."
Just then, Jamie heard his ringtone coming from his pocket. He took out his phone and answered it. It was his parents, of course.
"Hey mom...yeah...I'm, uh, just heading home...yep...yep..okay..I'll be there in a few minutes." He hung up and shoved the phone back in his pocket.
"Do you think you could drop me off?"
Kevin nodded and turned in the direction of his boyfriend's house. Once he stopped, he kissed Jamie's cheek as he unbuckled his seatbelt. He stayed in front of the house until he was sure he was inside.
Once Jamie got inside, he heard the familiar hyena laughter of his sisters, in their room, along with a few more voices, meaning they probably had friends over, meaning they were most likely sleeping over. (Sorry but I have this headcanon that Jamie has a lot of sisters and I refuse to let that die). He also overheard some words through all that giggling.
"My boyfriend got me flowers!"
"Mine got me a promise ring!"
Amateurs, he thought as he walked up the stairs to his room. My boyfriend made someone shit themselves on stage for me.That was probably the stupidest thing I've ever managed to incorporate slight angst into. Oh well.
