Talia wasn't your average high-schooler. She had just moved into California from her hometown in Wyoming. She was a dirty blonde with a shy attitude. She had two colors in her eyes. One was blue, and the other was green. That alone was enough to start up horrible rumors about her, but there were other things about her. Other things that were kept secret.
Today was her first day at A. Hamilton High. She had had a good day so far- meeting new friends in each class. She was just on her way to lunch when suddenly, "Hey! Watch it, New Girl!" An unsettling voice hit her.
"I-I'm so sorry!" Talia didn't realize she had bumped into "the popular girl." In fact, she didn't even know she was popular until that moment.
"Are you Talia?" She seemed to change moods as soon as she saw her face.
"I'm Talia. Who are you?" she asked, gathering all of the books the popular girl had dropped in her arms.
"I'm Tori, silly. I see you haven't been here long. Come sit at my table in the cafeteria. I'll introduce you to all of my friends." Tori said. Her brown hair came to her shoulders, with shimmery blue eyes.
Talia followed Tori to her table. She placed Tori's, still unclaimed, books in front of them. As she sat down, Tori started to speak. Once she opened her mouth, the whole cafeteria went dead silent. "I'd like to introduce you, girls, to my new friend, Talia." Tori explained to her table.
~A few minutes later~
Tori and Talia walked away from the cafeteria line. They just ordered their food and were on their way back to the table. "Hey, Tori." everyone around the girls said, crowding them.
A boy walked up to the pair, also on his way to the table. "Hi, Talia!" It was the cute boy from her math class. He had brown hair, a similar shade to Tori's. He was tall and seemed quite happy to see them.
"Hello...um..." Talia was unsure what to do. Her hands were trembling, but she tried to hold a grip on her lunch tray.
"Talia, this is my brother, William-" Tori was quickly interrupted.
"You can call me whatever you want to. I usually go by Will."
"Mhm. Nice to meet you, Will." Talia said, nervously.
Will spoke again, "Would you look at that? We're already at the table. How did that happen?" The trio sat down at their table once again. Tori pulled out her phone. She started to type.
Tori:
I know you like her ;)
William:
How did you know??
Tori:
It's quite obvious, but I should warn you...
Will:
What?
Tori:
oufouvlsldulalv...my signal.. ifiskcv...is breaking
"Lunch is almost over, guys. Anyone have a paper and a pencil I could use?" Tori asked. One of her friends gave her what she called for. Tori started writing some numbers down. When she was finished, she handed the paper to Talia. "Text me sometime after school."
The end of lunch approached them quickly. Talia was the first to leave. "I have to talk to William right now guys. Sorry." Tori said, in a not-so-friendly tone of voice. Her friends departed. "William, haven't you heard what she did? She practically blew up a school before she moved here! I can't believe you like her!"
"Tori, I like girls like her. Anyway, I don't think she did it on purpose!" Will walked out of the cafeteria, not letting his sister finish the conversation.
~About 3 minutes after the late bell rang~
"Hello, class. Today we have a new student." the drama teacher, Mr. B. said. Everyone in class looked around the room, trying to identify the "new kid." William already knew who it was. He turned to see where Talia was located in the circle the class had taken form of. After a few seconds, he found her. Their eyes locked for about 10 seconds, until the teacher continued.
"Talia, would you like to introduce yourself?" Talia shook her head, but Mr. B. made her anyway.
"I'm Talia," she whispered.
"What did you say?" Mr. B. asked. There were snickers echoing around the room.
"I'm Talia," she said with a slightly louder voice than before.. "Talia Marie."
Mr. B. had assigned the class partners the day before for their big scene. It was supposed to be one of these themes- romantic, comedy, or mystery. Mr. B. started to talk more about the project, "Because we have a new student in our class, we have to reassign partners. Some of your partners will be the same." He began reading off groups, "Emerald and Aaron. Sherri and Laura." He continued reading partners until the only people left were Talia, Will, Nate, and Braydon.
Mr. B. told the groups to start working. He then called the four of them to his desk. "Talia, do you already know anyone here?" he asked. Talia wasn't sure what to say. She had just met Will in lunch.
"Yes, Sir. I met Will earlier today."
Mr. B. decided on something, "Will, I need to talk with you for a moment. The rest of you - please take your seats for a few minutes." Braydon, Nate, and Talia walked to their seats quietly.
"Will, I know you usually partner up with Nate, but would you mind working with Talia? She just moved here and -" Will interrupted Mr. B. excitedly.
"Yes, Sir! I would. I mean... I wouldn't mind. I'll work with her! It's not a problem!"
"Great! Please, make her feel welcome. This is her first day here and she's already working on a project." he responded.
