Kageyama looked down at his wrist, with the timer still counting down. Most kids at his school had already found their soulmates, and he was in his last year of middle school! He was often time bullied for this. He wanted more than anything to find his soulmate. He didn't want to be alone anymore. Although it was what he wanted more than anything, he was terrified to meet then. What if they were like his dad? What is they were worse? He looked over the bruises on his arms and legs, what if these bruises inflicted on him by his dad were replaced with by ones from his soulmate? Or worse, what if he became like his dad? What if he put bruises on his soulmate like this, causing them to fear him? He often wondered what his soulmate will be like, will they be smart, polite, shy? Will they be tall, kind? He hoped so. However most of that is unimportant, he just hopes they love volleyball as much as him. He imagined his soulmate as someone similar to him, smart, quiet, reserved, calm, and cool-headed. As he thought about his soulmate, his recent incident with his dad that gave him a split lip and few bruises on his side faded from his mind. He was so excited that soon he will finally feel loved. All his life he had been abandoned by friends, and mistreated by his father who also mistreated his mom. Kageyama had always felt alone. At this point he was afraid to make friends because he felt that they would all eventually abandon him. He smiled at his timer, tomorrow was the day. Finally he would not be alone. Now the bullying would end and he could be happy. Kageyama was so excited that he could not sleep. He laid in bed tossing the volleyball above his head. careful to not drop it, fearing that if his dad hears he would come in and yell at him, potentially hitting him too. Eventually his sleepiness overpowered his mind, and he drifted off to sleep hugging his volleyball, dreaming about his soulmate.
