Hey everybody,

I would like to apologise for taking so long to update. I had an incredibly busy year, as I was completing my last year of high school. I hope that I can begin to update more before I go to University at the end of February. Thank you for taking the time to read this book, it means a lot!

Enjoy!

I awoke with a start to a loud bang echoing through the room. I sat up quickly, passing my gaze around the room in search of what was making the noise. My eyes immediately landed on the door, where another round of noise echoed through the wood. I quickly drew back the covers of the bed and made my way to the door, still dressed in the short pair of pyjama shorts and a tank top. I opened the door to reveal Ryder. Immediately he noticed my clothing, or lack thereof, running his eyes up and down my scarcely covered body. Noticing this, I began to feel uncomfortable and attempted to hide my body with my arms. This seemed to knock him back into reality, as he cleared his throat in an attempt to cover up the awkward encounter we just had.

"The Alpha would like to meet with you in half an hour to discuss the terms of your stay," Ryder stated not meeting my eyes.

"Ok, thank you," I replied.

"I will be back to collect you and take you to the Alpha." Ryder then turned around heading back the way he came before I had any time to respond.

Realising I only had thirty minutes to get ready before I met the Alpha who happened to be my mate, I decided to take a quick shower. I then put on the clothes that were laid on my bed the afternoon before. Taking a look in the mirror, my face still looked as lifeless as it did yesterday, despite the twelve hours sleep I had, and acted as a reminder that the events that had occurred, were in fact reality.

A knock on my door brought me from my thoughts, and I opened it to reveal Ryder once again standing in front of me. He gestured for me to follow him down the corridor without saying a word, and so that was exactly what I did.

I once again found myself standing in front of the double doors where the office of my mate stood. Despite already seeing the Alpha briefly yesterday, both his looks and his smell still surprised me as I walked through the doorway. As he sensed my entrance into the room, he looked up from his pile of papers stacked on his desk in front of him. As his eyes met mine, it was is they were looking deep into my soul. It was an indescribable and unusual feeling that I hadn't experienced before, courtesy of the Moon Goddess and mate bond which bound us together.

"Ryder, leave us please," said the Alpha as he gestured for me to take the seat in front of him as he did yesterday.

He turned to look at me once again as if he was unsure how to start our conversation.

"How did you sleep, Riley?"

"Fine thank you," I whispered, my nerves clearly affecting my ability to speak around him.

"We haven't been formerly introduced, I am Levi Carraway."

"Nice to meet you," I stammered.

"Now, I brought you here to discuss the terms of your stay. Obviously, these are very unusual circumstances which brought you onto Red Moon territory. Our pack is sympathetic to the fact that you no longer have a family or home, in addition to the fact that you are currently wanted by the Black Shadow pack. Therefore, after speaking to the important representatives of the pack, we have deemed that you are not a threat to our wellbeing, and have agreed to let you stay. However, the are a few conditions."

At the mention of conditions, my hands began to shake, afraid that they would result in my inevitable departure from the Red Moon pack.

"Firstly, you will undergo a two week long probationary period, where you will be expected to act as if you are a member of the pack. You will undergo training and complete chores around the pack house just like every other pack member. After this period, you will then, providing you meet the requirements, be initiated into the pack. Do these terms seem fair?"

"Yes," I stammered unable to meet his eyes.

"Good, now you may return to your room until someone calls you for breakfast before your tour. You may leave now."

He then returned to the papers on his desk, not sparing another glance in my direction. His cold attitude and his failure to acknowledge our "mate" situation had me confused. I felt a pang in my chest when it struck me. I was not wanted, I was just someone who happened to stumble onto his territory, and that hurt, more than I would like to admit.
