She entered the cafe, drenched in rain. Water droplets falling off each strand of brown hair to the ground in an uneven rythm.
Her bangs were also a bit shaggy and uneven, as they covered her eyes even when she tried to shake the water off. She was dressed in beige and black, almost elegant in attire. I had never seen her before today.
I don't know why, but the second she stepped into the cafe I felt connected to her, almost as if she were meant to be here; today, right now. This must be destiny. I thought to myself. But a girl like that would never give me the time of day. So mysterious. So--
"Hello!" a customer grunted rudely on the other side of the counter, waving his hand in my direction. "Would you hurry up? I haven't got all day!"
"Ah!" I gasped, pulling my hand back. I had not noticed until then that I had been in the middle of pouring coffee for a customer; and in turn had missed the cup and poured steaming hot coffee onto my own hand. "Ouch! U-uh, s-sorry sir! I'll get your cup right now!" I said, as I quickly grabbed a new cup and filled it to the top. "T-here you go sir! Have a nice day!"
"Pfft, stupid kids these days." the man muttered as he pushed passed the soaking brown haired girl, exiting the shop.
I grabbed yet another new mug and filled it to the top. Then i quickly stripped off my apron and carried the mug to our new guest.
"H-hello!" I said to the girl, who finally turned to look at me. "You look awfully cold, why don't you take a seat and have some coffee?" I said, handing the mug over to her.
"Uhm, I don't take drinks from strangers." she told me. "You never know what could be put in them."
"U-h, what? N-no, it's not like that at all!" I explained to her with a nervous laugh. "I work here, actually! I just took off my apron b-because I-I.."
The girl brushed her bangs away from her eyes so I could see them for the first time. What beautiful brown eyes. "Because..?" she asked.
"Oh! Because I was, well, I didn't want you to see me wearing it." I admitted. "It's kind of embarassing."
"It's embarassing to have a job?"
"N-no!"
"I could use a job."
"The apron!"
"I could also use an apron."
"It's embarassing to wear an apron is what I meant!" I finally finished. "For a guy at least.."
"Really?" she asked, the corners of her lips turned up into a light smile. Her smile was so beautiful. "I think it's kind of cute."
"W-what?" I replied, blushing furiously.
"Mhm."
"Ah..." I sighed. My emotions were all over the place. "L-listen, what I meant to say is that you look like you're cold, and I think you could use a few minutes to rest and warm up with a cup of coffee. How about it?"
"Okay." she said, taking the mug from my hand. Then she walked past me and took a seat at a booth. "Thank you." she said.
"No problem.." I told her, then sat across from her. She looked at me and then took a sip of her coffee and....nearly spit it out. "Ah..haha. Sorry! I'm a new employee and I haven't got the hang of it quite yet..."
"I..." she said, forcefully gulping down the coffee that was still in her mouth. "Can see that."
I couldn't help but chuckle. "You don't have to drink it if you don't want to." she nodded. "Well, anyways. I'm Yoosung. What's your name?"
"I'm [MC/YN]." she said.
"Wow," I said. "That's such a pretty name!" I smiled at her, then reached my hand out to shake hers. "It's been a pleasure meeting you."
"It was great meeting you too, Yoosung." she smiled in return.
"Do you believe in destiny?" I asked her, still holding her hand across the table.
"Why do you ask?"
"Well, because I do." I confirmed. "So, earlier you said you wish you had a job?" I asked.
"Mhm."
"Well, you might just be in luck. You see, my friends and I...we lost someone very special two years back. She was in charge of alot in this organization we're in and if I talk to my friend Seven, maybe he can convince V to let you join."
"An organization? Seven? V?" she asked.
"I can't explain just yet, but I can talk to them tonight and then maybe..." I paused for a second, feeling nervous once more. "Maybe I could tell you a bit more about it...Friday, at 8?"
"Uh, yeah..." [MC/YN] seemed a bit shy all of a sudden. "Friday at 8." she confirmed with a smile.
"I'm happy to hear that." I told her. "Actually, I've never been on a date before....so be prepared for tons of awkward moments, alright?"
"Alright." she giggled.
"Well," I started and then noticed a customer had walked in. "Oh! I got to serve him, sorry!" I told her. She nodded and I was off, more cheerful than ever before.
