Lily had been living with Kai for exactly one year on this very day. She had been with him on his worst days and on his best days - she had seen the cold, venomous side as well as his warm and charming side. Needless to say, she had fallen for him. But her heart ached at the fact that he was incapable of love; and even if he wasn't, she thought he would never love someone like her anyway. So she kept her emotion well hidden, buried beneath all of the repressed emotions and forgotten memories in her mind.

The day had started out like any regular morning, Lily sleepily awaking at the sound of peaceful birdsong as warm rays of sunlight beamed down onto her, illuminating her glittering eyes. She stretched out, a content smile on her face, before dressing herself and making her way downstairs, where Kai sat perched on a chair in the living room.

"Good morning," Kai spoke, munching loudly on pork rinds.
He observed how Lily wrinkled her nose in disgust, which only added to his amusement. "What...do you not like pork rinds?" he feigned hurt, placing a hand on his heart rather dramatically.
"No, they're disgusting," Lily widened her eyes as Kai shoved a handful into his mouth, tossing his head back in pleasure, as Lily looked away, a blush creeping onto her cheeks; the action igniting something deep inside of her.

"Are you alright?" Kai asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "You're a little quiet today."
Lily opened her mouth to speak, but was distracted by the loud crunching of pork rinds and she just looked down at the ground awkardly.

"Lil - can I ask you a question?" Kai asked, placing his pork rinds delicately on the side and averting his gaze to the girl, intently gazing into her mesmerising eyes. The girl tensed up at the nickname Kai had given for, her heart filling with lust. She mentally scolded herself for acting like a baby, but she couldn't help it. He was just so intoxicating.

"Sure," she shrugged, trying to play it cool. But ultimately failing to do so as she shrugged awkwardly.
"Did your parents pass their magic onto you?" he queried randomly, making Lily shift awkwardly at the topic of her parents. There was a rule that applied to both of them whilst living with each other; no asking about family.
"Yeah," she replied meekly, staring directly at Kai who towered above her. "Why?"
"No reason," Kai shrugged, his fingers brushing against Lily's wrist as she felt something stir inside of her, as sparks ignited between the two. His hands slowly trailed down to her wrist as his piercing blue eyes bore into her. A few seconds went by as Lily clenched her eyes, savouring the moment between the two.

Kai's grip on the girl's wrist tightened, to the point where he was almost crushing her.
"Ow, Kai - that hurts," Lily laughed, her smile fading as Kai's grip tightened even more and he closed his eyes, inhaling deeply.
A suffocating pain crushed Lily's throat as she tried to regain her breathing as Lily felt the life being sucked out of her.
"Kai, please," she whimpered, gazing up at Kai who was smirking, his eyes now open and void of any emotion, absorbing all of the life the girl had in her. Lily yelped in pain as she came to a harsh realisation.
The girl knew what he was doing; he had used her.

Pain still ripped through her, suffocating her heart and throat with a death-grip as sadness coarsed through her body; the person she loved actually would be the death of her.
Kai suddenly let go, as Lily fell to the floor harshly, her frail body tensing with pain.
She found enough energy to sit upright, tears forming in her eyes. She wasn't sure if she was crying at the pain or at Kai's betrayal.
