Here sits the blue bird
in his nest of gold
poor, blind little blue bird
never seeing past his nose
Under, is the tree frog
hopping his way along
down looks the blue bird
singing the lost mans song
"look at you!" cries the blue bird
"hoping on the ground."
"I'm better than you!" sings the blue bird,
"for I can fly around!"
But on the ground
the tree frog sees
the beauty that does grow
the tree frog has a happiness
the bird will never know.
