Prologue : The Choosing

The day has come. The house was filled with noise, and tension could be felt in the air, making it hard to stay still.
I sat in a big living room (and the room itself was huge; HUGE walls; a TALL and HUGE ceiling; and HUGE amount of space) that contained a big brown sofa made from leather, a couple of matching armchairs, a very elegant-looking fire place, an extravagantly big chandelier that had about a thousand candles on it, wooden floors, and a big bear-like rug that took up the space between the seats and the fire place.
What really made the room stand out, and made it my favorite, was that the far wall was completely filled with windows that reached from the ceiling, all the way to the floor. Burgundy curtains draped in curves from window to window giving the room an even more elegant look.
I crawled to the windows and looked outside. Looked at the sky. It was beautiful, so blue and endless, and the clouds just floated by, looking so fluffy and soft, as if pieces of cotton. I could feel my chest fill with a longing sensation, as if wishing to be there with the clouds, dancing with them and the soft northern wind. I placed a hand on one of the windows and tried to stand up.
Just as I began trying, the door flung open behind me and my mother rushed in. I fell back down to the floor and began whimpering because of my failure and the sudden surprise.
Mother, hearing me, rushed over and scooped me up into her arms. She patted my back and told me that everything was going to be okay but I already could feel the truth. I'm turning 3 today and by now, kids my age could talk and walk unlike me, who couldn't do both but was instead very intelligent and was more aware of her surroundings. They also didn't have a second child in their house, a child that shared some of your features.
I knew that we were going somewhere, somewhere far, to meet someone quite important.
Someone..very,very,important

Few Hours Later
My brother and I walked (my mother carried me though) through a grand hallway, designed with rock vines that engraved the walls and wove all the way to the ceiling. The whole place was ten times our house and I convinced myself that a giant lived here.
There were doors every ten feet and mainly looked like they haven't been used in a while, but looks can be deceiving.
Finally we reached the biggest pair of doors that I have ever seen. A tiger and a dragon, who were engraved with jewels and rubies for eyes, were in a yin and yang position with the tiger looking down at the dragon.
Both doors groaned with effort when the guards inside the room opened them, revealing a room.
My eyes widened.
The room was huge, ten times the size of ours. The marble floor was polished clean, so clean, in fact, that you could see your reflection. Small windows lined the very top of the wall giving the room a radiant glow. There were four pillars, two on each side, that stood closely to the wall, giving it (the room) more depth. The pillars were almost as big as sequoia trees.
"Welcome..to my humble home," bombed a voice. Everyone - as well as me - turned to the source and found our selfs in front of a King.
How I knew? Well, one thing he had a very bushy beard, a long robe, and a lot of rings, a lot ( like two rings on each finger ). Second, he was sitting on a golden throne with a golden crown. He looked pleased at him self by leaving everyone in awe.
"Now, I'm guessing these are the twins I heard about?" He sweeped his eyes over me and my brother.
Shivers went up my spine.
He was a dangerous man.
"Now then, let the 'picking' begin," he stated while getting up from his seat and walked down the stairs.
"Hmm...the boy has some potential," he pointed out as he circled my brother, "has muscles," he picked up his arm and then settled it back down.
The King continued walking and, this time, stopped in front of me.
I gulped and a bead of sweat trailed down my back.
My mother put me down on the floor.
"Stand up." Ordered the King with a stern look.
"I'm very sorry for interrupting you, my King," my mother bowed as gracefully as she could master, " but you see, my second child hasn't yet learned to stand or talk yet."
"What?! What kind of nonsense is that?" The King said in a stern voice.
"I'm very sorry, but...we tried-a-and...she just can't. The doctors said that there is nothing wrong but-" she was interrupted by the hand of the King, gave me a dirty look, and began to walk back to his throne. "So that means that she hasn't mastered an element yet either, am I correct?" He sat down and crossed his hands in front of his face.
"Forgive me, but no."
"Has the boy?"
"Y-yes, my King," stammered mother and pushed my brother a little forward, "please demonstrate, Fillip."
My brother raised his hand and shot out a purple flame.
"Ah, I see. He's mastered The Poison Flame, one of the rare. I was kind of hoping he would master The Ruby Fire, but that would do." He shifted in his seat.
"The boy is the 'Chosen', please 'Dispose' of the girl, she has no more purpose in this world." Said the King and dismissively waved his hand.
Two guards grabbed me by both of my arms. I looked from side to side, confusion and horror written all over my face. I looked at my mother for help.
She averted her eyes and turned away.
I couldn't believe it.
As the guards started to pull me away, I started wining and grunting, anything that would attract attention to me.
We walked through the courtyard, through the castle main gates and through the city.
I managed to wriggle one hand free and twirl around to bite the other man. He quickly released his grip and I ran.
I ran as fast as I could.
I didn't even realize it until I looked behind and saw that the guards were dumb struck.
I aimed for the city gates, the ones leading to the outside, the one that lead to so many different place like the ones my mother told me about.
Nobody stopped me. Instead they all got out of the way.
I ran and ran and ran.
My feet were bare since I wore no shoes.
Nobody thought I'd start running anytime soon, but here I was.
I reached the gates in a nick of time and ran straight through.
But I didn't stop there. I kept running, and running, stopping sometimes only to catch my breath.
I finally stopped when I couldn't  run anymore. My mind spun and I couldn't stay still. I swayed and collapsed. Darkness creeped into my conscious and after my last shaky breath, I drifted off.
