Chapter 7

"So how about this one?"

"Why are we doing this again?"

"I just want to trigger something, lets try again alright?"

Because people were everywhere Jane took me to the interrogation room for some privacy. He holds up another picture, this time it's a abandoned-looking white building. I try to focus on it but all I'm getting out of this is a headache.

His hand rests on mine.

"Don't force it just relax and look again."

I take a deep breath and look again only to have the same results as last time. I sit back in my chair, cross my arms, and look away; trying to hide my feelings. Stupid me, why am I getting so distraught over nothing?

"I'm sorry, I just can't remember."

I can feel him studying me, at first I thought he would be irritated but instead he just gives me a sympathetic smile.

"You were this stubborn a lot. You could only take so much and then you'd cave in, hiding behind those walls to force me out."

He walks over to me and plants a kiss on my forehead.

"But that's alright, because no matter what you will always be my friend."

My heart aches.

"What if I never remember anything? What if I stay like this forever? Would you be okay with that? Would we still be friends?"

"You will though, what happened to you was to awful so you mentally blocked it all out. All we have to do is unlock it."

Somehow I don't believe him and I watch as he leaves the interrogation room. For a while I do nothing, but then it hits me. It's risky but it's worth a try.

After a moment I take the opportunity to leave the building unnoticed, I get into my car, and I drive all the way to the county jail.

I need to see him. If anyone knows how and why I lost my memory, it's him.
