Mindy P.O.V
We drew near a huge building, with a half dead light up sign blaring through the pitch black of the night.
"What's this?" I asked.
Theo smiled, "This, my friends, is a shopping market."
I glared at his obviousness. I hadn't been to a out in years, let alone to a shopping centre. I was familiar with the concept, though. Many hours of watching tv series gave me this advantage.
"Shit! Is this the kind that sells groceries only or everything?" Mitch asked.
Kitty looked at us angrily, "You woke me up from my beauty sleep for this? This isn't even a high quality store. This is where cheap clothing comes from."
"We aren't here to buy clothes. I just need a few stuff, and if you haven't noticed, this is the only store opened 24 hours a day."
The isles had endless shelves that towered over us. Pulling out a shopping trolley, we stood before the first isle.
Dozens of fresh produce laid vibrant colours on the shelves.
"So, what do you need these for if you stay in the compound with us?" Kitty asked.
Theo chuckled, "You make it sound like were prisoners."
"That's because we are." Derek muttered.
"To answer Kitty's question, my brother is coming over for a week and he needs to think that I live in my apartment."
"So can we pick some stuff too?" Mitch asked.
"... Yeah sure... Just make sure we get everything on the list."
Those were the worst words uttered. Soon celery sticks, onions, ice cream, peppers and chips were being hauled into the trolley by the dozens. Unnecessary items, like shampoo and and a facial hair wax kit and even some stationary were found in the cart.
It was after a moment of regaining control, that Theo gave up. Derek began running throught he isles with the trolley and Mitch wasn't far behind with Kitty.
"So why bring us here?"
"There wasn't an us in the plan. I was only supposed to bring you."
I glanced at him, "Why?"
"Because... I thought something as ordinary as grocery shopping would help you release tension, especially after the whole Betty incident."
"Her names Bianca. And that's a very odd way of releasing tension. When a guy usually says that, he usually means something else."
Abruptly, Theo's head spun to face her. Her eyes widened at what she had just said.
"I... no... I meant he usually sends her to a massage parlour or something. I... I didn't mean that we should.... um... we should checkout now."
My face was flaming and I refused to look at Theo directly. When I looked up, he was already speed walking away.
Awkwardly, the five of us were lined up at the till point.
"Hi. Thank you for shopping with us."
The cashier, swiped everything in slow motion and then packed the bags."That will be $250. Come again soon."
She seemed bored. After stowing away 13 shopping bags, we were headed off to Theo's apartment. The silence in the car was heavy. It seemed like Kitty and Derek had fallen asleep and Mitch was close to it.
"I'm sorry... about what I was saying earlier."
"It doesn't matter. You don't need to apologise." He replied.
"I'm sorry anyways."
I looked at the clock on the dash board. It was 2:15 in the morning.
"Where to now?" I asked.
"Home?" He eyed me warily.
"Oh yeah... I forgot."
We drove with the quiet singing of John Legend.
Why did I always have to make things awkward? Now I have to sit in silence because the next thing out of my mouth might be another blob of crap. And like diarrhoea, crap will flow with the occasional pauses of when I can't complete my sentences.
Damn, my mind is full of shit!
"We're here."
By apartment, he meant luxury. There was no apartment. The gate sensored his number plate, allowing us in.
"Dammit! Fresco? Where are you?"
"Here, here! Just had to go to the toilet."
"Right. I told you to remove the sensor. Anyone could come with a fake one."
"Your father says no."
"Did you have to go and ask him."
"No, he came by last week and saw that you weren't home. So he checked the cameras and heard our conversation."
"Oh. Well he hasn't phones me yet. Anyways, Sebastian said he'll come over. Got some groceries in the back."
Fresco hurried to get the stuff.
"This is not an apartment. This is a freestanding penthouse."
"Do you want to look inside?"
"Yeah, sure." I honestly tried to calm my excited nerves. I mean, how often do you go to a high class place?
He left the car doors open and pulled me through the door. I tried to ignore the fact that he was holding my hand, but it was incredibly difficult, especially since our fingers were entwined...
Heya!
I know I said I was on a kind of hiatus, but... instead of doing my mathematics I'm here again. If I fail this year, it's all because of you.
Anywho, I realised that my story is getting kind of cliché and I know this, but I'm okay with it. It may sound cliché now but let me give you a SPOILER, Theo and Mindy to not end up together in the end.
If you didn't want to know that then too bad... I already said it.
Anywho, toodles...
