What to do...- Dodger's POV

Cain and I walked through the forest with smiles on our faces. Every once in a while we'd shove each other playfully and talk about the girl pups.
He had made a comment about his sister and I sighed. "I don't know why the grown ups keep making me and your sister spend time together," I said in a thoughtful manner. "It's so tense, like she's thinking about something else..." I stared off into the trees.
I thought Cain was going to respond, but instead I yelped in surprise and pain as we both flew into a bush. I landed on my wound hard. "WHAT THE S-" He nudged me hard with his nose. I quieted down, but a frown was plainly visible on my face.
"Look!" Cain shout whispered at me. I almost groaned in annoyance because it was probably nothing. He was scared of everything. It could have been anything from a slightly large fox to one thousand hunters and he'd have the same reaction.
I was not expecting to see what I did. What I saw would change my life...For better or worse I didn't know yet. "Oh," Was all I could say and my eyes were practically exploding out of my head.
There was a pup. She was so...different. There isn't another word to describe her. It was almost surreal, the way the wind blew leaves around her and her fur seemed to blow perfectly out of her face to reveal violet markings. Her antlers glistened in the light streaming in from the canopy of trees.
Well, that was until I realized she was screeching for help. It was pitiful...The small violet colored pup was oddly still and her eyes were wide with pain and fear. She hadn't seen us yet, that part was obvious. I looked down and my look of shock turned horrified.
Her leg was caught in a bear(?) trap. There was blood smudged in her fur and on the soil beneath her. Even on her muzzle where she'd tried to pry it free.
"Uhm...What should we do?" I hissed at Cain. He just looked terrified.
"I-I-I don't kn-know!" Cain stuttered a little more than usual. If a wolf could trip over words, he'd be doing it.
"To help her would be the right thing..." I muttered, frowning as I noticed her cheeks were glistening with big wet tears. "But, what would my dad do?" I asked myself. My tail began to thump against the ground in concentration. I guess she finally heard that through her own screaming.
"Who...Who's there? Can you help me? Please?" She begged. I was envious of her. Her voice wasn't choked with tears or stuttering with fright. It was as if she was talking to us in a regular conversation.
I decided to do the right thing...I stepped out from the bush boldly and promptly tripped. I stumbled and my face smacked into a nearby tree, but I quickly steadied myself and looked over at her slowly. Her eyes were wide and she looked as if she was about to say sonething, but closed her mouth.
"I, uh, I'm here to save you?" I would have made Cain nip me for practically asking her if she wanted to be saved. "Cain, help me get this off," I said leaderly. Hey, maybe I am catching some of that alpha stuff. He scampered over to me and we walked towards her cautiously. She simply stared at us. Apparently her curiosity had made her forget the pain in her leg because she wasn't crying anymore.
It took a little while, but we were able to pry the trap off of her little leg. She probably would have limped out of it, but for some reason she had suddenly fainted. I didn't know why until Tawny told me later on. Something about 'blood loss' and 'extreme trauma', but who cares about that stuff? We both grabbed her by the scruff and tried not to trip over her dragging paws as we ran- as fast as we could with the two of us being injured- back to camp.

The girl pup was still asleep. Once we got her back to camp, Tawny immediately started working her magic. Now all of her markings were visible and her antlers were shiny and pretty. I know in one pack all of the wolves have all different kinds of horns, but I forget which one.
Now we are waiting for her to wake up, watching quietly. I didn't know that this girl would awaken a side of my dad that I didn't want to see...
