Legs...wounded, vision...blurry, hope...fading. I was using all my strength to just keep walking in a straight line. I had been surviving off only 4 pieces of meat from earlier. The rest of my equipment...was gone. I didn't even have a set of spare clothes. I was climbing a fairly steep hill until I finally reached the top. I looked at my last hope, Leanbox, before making my way towards the Basilicom.

Surprisingly, Leanbox seemed like its usual self. Not war-torn, not taken over, nothing. People were roaming the streets without any negative repercussions. I got inside the Basilicom and realized that the lobby was empty. The staff wasn't there and no guests were here. I was getting pretty creeped out. I located Vert's room and as about to enter until I heard her voice to my right.

-"Oh my goodness! Nepgear! You look terrible!" Vert said whilst approaching me.

I simply collapsed from exhaustion and felt Vert catch me before my mind slipped away.

...

...

...

I started to wake up and felt that I was on something soft and felt very warm. I slowly opened my eyes to see that I was tucked in to Vert's massive bed. I sat up and looked at my wounds, all of them had been bandaged. I guess Vert had me treated when she found me. I was about to get out of the bed when the door opened and Vert entered with a big tray of food, all of it looking delicious.

-"My little Nepgear, what were you doing in such bad shape?" She asked.

-"It's not my fault, Arfoire destroyed my supplies. I had to travel here on foot, starving." I said.

-"Poor thing...well, feel free to feast to your heart's content!"

Without hesitation, I started stuffing my face with the food she provided. While I was eating, A thought occurred to me. I thought Vert was dead, so how is she here? I stopped eating to ask her exactly that.

-"Hey Vert, how are you here? I saw Arfoire kill every one of you!" I asked in panic.

-"Well, the short answer is that I managed to sneak away while she was monologuing. She does that quite a lot. I regret leaving the others behind, but I was so tired and beaten up that, even if I tried to fight her again, I would just be defeated again. I hid until she was done with her slaughter. She eventually left and I limped back to Leanbox. I managed to fortify the defense and defend against Arfoire's first assault, but we've been at the ready ever since, just in case. I'm sorry about your sister." She explained.

-"Don't worry about it, it wasn't your fault. I don't think anyone would be strong enough to keep going after that loss."

-"Anyway, I have work to attend to, so I shall take my leave now. If you need anything, just press this button to call in an assistant."

-"Thank you Vert."

-"You're very welcome Nepgear." She said as she left.

I'm just thankful that Leanbox and Vert are okay at least. I just hope that we'll both be able to rise up again and re-take our nations soon. For now though, I'm hungry.
