Lia's pov
I realized now would be a good time to actually walk into the room instead of eavesdropping on the most important day of my best friend's life. No one seemed to care anyways. "Don't worry about me," I say hugging Bailee. "As long as you don't forget about me, I'll be totally fine." I grin. She looks me straight in the eye, "Never in a million years."
"I know," I laugh. I wave at Nick with a stupid grin then wrap my arms around Bailee again. Our happy and sad moment is interrupted when there is a knock at the door. Madame Priscilla glides over and opens it. Standing in the doorway is none other than Nick's close friend, and my favorite person to watch on tv; Aaron Goodwin.
"Hey, umm. Hi," he says awkwardly. I open my mouth to say hi but he cuts me off, "Listen, Lia. Nick told me what he was coming out here to do, and I kinda felt bad. Ya know? Like no I'm not your dad, but I can be... if you want." He says awkwardly. "Are you being serious?" "Well yeah. I've always wanted a daughter and, here you are. We got along in the elevator, I mean we could've died. But we didn't. Would that uhh be okay?" I smile and look at the others in the room. Madame Priscilla looks as if she's going to cry, while Nick and his daughter have the same stupid grin on their faces. "Well of course, but wow. This is, wow," I say at a loss for words. Aaron smiles as Madame Priscilla hands him the papers, tears streaming down her face. I blink twice trying to realize what was actually happening. Bailee claps her hands in my face, "Hey! Pay attention, you're getting adopted!" I smile, "Yeah! So are you!" I look at Aaron signing the papers and he glances up, a slight grin on his face. I take a deep breath and Bailee squeezes my hand. We both rush up and give the owner a giant hug. She squeezes back, "Well, gentlemen. I am sorry to say it will take about two weeks for them to be legally yours." "That's okay," Nick says, Aaron nodding in agreement. "Alrighty then. I know you guys won't regret this," Madame Priscilla smiles and struts out of the room.
"Well, I gotta go clean out one of my rooms. I'll see you little ladies later," Aaron says. "Thanks a million Aaron!" I say waving after him. Nick walks up and hugs Bailee before following him. "This is so cool!" She says once they are gone. "Yeah! This has been the best Wednesday and Thursday ever!" I joke. We laugh and head out of the office, overjoyed over how our lives were turning out.
