Phoebe Salvatore

The masses of people hurriedly run around me in the busy streets of Chicago when I spot him. His dirty blonde hair shone against the crowd, I see his green-blue-brown eyes searching the crowd, looking for me.

"Aidyn!" I yell, only a little bit away from him. He turns, making eye contact with me, and bursting with a smile. I feel a smile creep on my face as we get closer and I jump into his waiting arms, him lifting me off the ground and spinning me around.

"Little Salvatore! I've missed you!" he says and I laugh into his neck. He sets me down and we look at each other, how we've changed all these years. The last I saw him I had long wavy dark-brown-it's-nearly-black hair, but now it was shorter, just shy of my shoulders. The last I saw him was twenty years ago, in Times Square, New York City, his hair was shorter then, but now it was longer, enough for me to run my fingers through.

"I missed you most Aidyn. It's been so long, what are you doing here?" I ask and he shrugs.

"I've been moving around, I was just in Detroit, far too dangerous there. I like Chicago more. Then I asked around and found out you were here too. Where's your brothers?" He asks and I smile slightly.

"We should go somewhere quiet to talk." I say, taking his hand and leading him away from the busy crowds towards my favorite cafe, Tea Me. It's never too busy, seeing as most people go to Starbucks. It's a tiny cafe, but it's nice, and my roommate, Ella, works there as well.

We walk into the cafe, and I see Ella walking back to the counter.

"Welcome to- oh hey Pheebs!" she says and I smile. Ella was a wild child with fiery red hair and dark brown eyes. Iv'e known her for 2 years, and we've shared an apartment for 1 year. She's one of my closest friends, and she knows I'm a vampire, but she's human.

"Hey Ella, this is my old friend Aidyn, Aidyn, my roommate and bestfriend, Ella." I say motioning to my gawking friend. I giggle at her gawking but I understand it. Aid is a looker, and I used to love him like that, but he'll forever be someone I shamelessly flirt with.

Aidyn gives his signature smile and holds out his hand, "Hi," he says and I'm almost certain she melted. She shakes his hand and blushes.

"Well," I say clearing my throat, "I'll take a large Guava Boba and..." I trail off and look at Aid who looks at the menu and speaks, "I'll have a large peppermint mocha frappucino." Ella smiles and rings us up, and I grab my wallet out of my bag, and before I can take out my credit card, Aidyn sets down a card on the counter. I look up at him and groan.

"No, I got it Aid, don't worry." He shakes his head.

"I'm gonna buy a drink for my favorite girl, seriously, let me buy you a drink." he says and I sigh.

"Always the gentleman." I say as Ella smiles and starts on our orders. I lead him to my favorite seat, one in the corner, just far enough from the counter and door to give us privacy. The sun shines down on my hand, my daylight ring reminding me of my eternal life. Aidyn sits across from me, facing away from the door as I sigh and run a hand through my hair.

"Twenty years. Twenty years too long." I say and he laughs slightly.

"Yeah, Times Square, New years Eve. What happened to you after that?" Aid asks and I sigh, that was a dark time for me after that.

"That new year was rough, Stefan went missing for a while... I lost a little bit of myself too. Ended up in Miami for a while. I stayed there for like 10 years and moved around a while before I made my way here. I haven't seen my brothers for...8 years? it's been so long. But I couldn't be around them, where ever they go, drama follows. Enough about me, though, what about you? Left any girls on New Years lately?" I say sightly bitter. Aidyn kissed me on New Years, the last time I saw him, them when I opened my eyes he was gone. I never knew if he had died, or if he just didn't want me anymore. He gives me a look of sadness and Ella walks up, giving us our drinks and I smile at her, she smiles slightly and wriggles her eyebrows, making me roll my eyes. She goes back to the back of the cafe, probably going to eat.
