The air was beautifully cool and crisp like the dead leaves that littered the ground. The october sky was a pale blue and the chill in the air left pink marks on his cheeks. His hair and eyes, once lightened by the summer's days, were now so dark, the way his skin was once tanned by the summer's sun, now much more light and fair because of autumn's bleak aura.
"Why are you staring at me?" he asked.
"Because I haven't been able to talk or really look at you in two months," I explained, "and I'm sorry, I don't mean to keep bringing the past up. But I never thought we'd be okay again."
