I was in a tent when I awoke. I had lots of bandages for all my injuries. I also happened to be in an incredible amount of pain.
Doctors rushed around me, bringing me food, and drink, and some kind of paste to numb the pain. I slipped in and out of consciousness for a day or two. Romulus was always on my mind. However none of the doctors knew where he was, and I was bed ridden in an attempt to stop infections.
It was three days before I was well enough to leave. It took me another to search the almost 100 medical tents in the camp. But I found him. Bandaged, bloody, and stuck in bed, but very much alive. When he saw me he said
"If this is heaven than it sucks ass." I laughed and he smiled weakly.
I walked up to his bed. I looked to the cut across his chest.
"When I saw you drop man I..."
"Well I'm not. There's no point in wondering about what could have been Juvian, we're fine and that's all that matters."
"Yeah I guess you're right."
"Of course I am, I always am."
"Yeah, sure. Now would you mind explaining that to my wife."
"What? Why?"
"I've decided to go back to Rome for a little while. I've also decided that you're coming with me."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Nothing you say will stop it from happening."
"But the war. We can't just leave."
"From what I've gathered from around the canp. That last victory really destabilized the Gauls. We've apparently already scored several other victories."
"So we can leave?"
"Yes Rom, we can leave."
A few days later I had loaded up a horse and put Romulus in a makeshift chariot. It was filled with hay for his comfort. With some food prepared, and my injuries healed we made for Rome.
