In Chinese philosophy, you may have heard of the stories of Yin and Yang. They describe seemingly opposite or contradictory forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world. Yin and Yang describe how opposites depend on each other to work. They show a balance between two opposites with a portion of the opposite element in each section. The yin, the dark swirl, is associated with shadows, femininity, and the trough of a wave; the yang, the light swirl, represents brightness, passion and growth.
