Chapter Nine

"What's a true alpha?" The girls asked once inside the house.

"You guys picked up on that? I didn't think you'd give such curiosity to it when I said it." Lucy sighed.

"Would you mind telling us?" Lauren asked. "No, no of course not, I'll tell you." Lucy assured whilst the girls all sat around her as she started to explain.

"A true alpha is the rarest form of alpha. It's extremely rare. One appears every 100 years. A true alpha becomes a true alpha by not taking or stealing the power from an alpha but rises to alpha rank solely on the strength of their character, their virtue, and sheer willpower. It's usually a beta who can become a true alpha." Lucy explained.

"Is their anything specific for you to become a true alpha?" Camila asked. Lucy raised her head at the sudden question.

"Yes there is. You can't kill when becoming a true alpha," Lucy smirked.

"For example: Zayn." Lucy started. The girls looked up at her. There faces showing that they were either shocked or not surprised. "Zayn has killed many people. He will never become a true alpha. But he can become a alpha by stealing or taking the power from an alpha."

"Can you become a true alpha?" Dinah mumbled quietly but Lucy heard so did the rest as they all looked at Dinah's direction while Dinah looked up at Lucy and solely at Lucy.

"I've never killed anyone. I'm not sure if I have sheer willpower but..maybe." Lucy smiled gently at Dinah as the Polynesian nodded at the brunettes answer.

"Alright it's uh, it's getting late we should all get a good nights sleep before school tomorrow." Lucy stood up from where she sat. The girls groaned and pleaded for more.

"Okay. I tell you guys a little something from when I was in my old pack. It uh, kinda relates to what we were talking about a few seconds ago." Lucy stated. The girls nodded and got comfy.

"Long ago from when my parents gave birth to me and blah blah blah. Years later I'm 15 years old and my best friend was Zayn. We were both born werewolves/wolves. And we were both in the same pack. My parents' pack. My mom and dad were true alphas. They earned their power, they didn't steal it like the others. That's why the others were jealous. They wanted my parents power because they knew that they'd be stronger with it. War was declared and we had to fight. But my parents didn't want that for me and their pack. All they wanted was peace." A tear fell down to Lucy's cheek. She sniffled and wiped it away. Camila gave Lucy a tissue as she was, too, in tears along with the rest of the girls.

"You don't have to continue if you don't want to." Lauren said sincerely.

"It's fine." Lucy assured. She sniffed and wiped away another tear.

"Zayn's parents died in the war. My mom died in the war as well. My dad took control of the pack and continued on. Two years later, I'm 17 years old and so is Zayn. Hunters were hunting us down one by one. My dad had enough of it. He managed to kill all of the hunters except for one. And that one killed my dad. And I watched." More tears started to prick at Lucy's eyes. She blinked and all the tears began rolling down her cheeks. "That one hunter managed to escape. I could smell my fathers blood on him as he did."

"Wait, hold on, you said a pack is normally lead by an alpha. What happened after that? Did you guys find a new alpha or..?" Ally asked with tear stained cheeks.

"Uh, yeah, but she died along with the rest of the pack. Like I said there's only Zayn and I left of that pack." Lucy replied.

"What was her name?" Normani asked.

"Her name was Kehlani." Lucy cringed at the name but was lucky to let it go unnoticed. She didn't want to get into that part of the story.

"Alright, well I'm tired. I'm gonna go to bed. See you all in the morning." Lucy stood up again and walked towards her room.

"Wait," Lucy turned to see Lauren catching up behind her. Lauren reached up to Lucy and hugged her. Lucy was taken aback but hugged her nonetheless.

"C'mon." Lauren let go from the hug and held out her hand for Lucy to take. Lucy looked down at Lauren's hand and smiled as she took ahold of it and allowed Lauren to lead her to her room.

"Goodnight." The couple said as they both fell into a much needed slumber.
