Our Next Lives

Today I don't know what happened

It wasn't my intention

I don't want to be near you

Yet you think we're back to what we were

But the truth is

I don't want to go back to what we were

Though you make me laugh sometimes

I don't want to be around you

It's hard because I make it difficult

My wants are not clear

But what I want

Is for us to part

You bring out the best in me

But also the worst

I don't want to be around that

It's not good for my heart

So now as I write this

I want you to know that

I'm sorry

I need to let you go

Maybe in our next lives

We'll both change and grow

For right now the time isn't right

and we'll re-meet and learn to get along.
