Chapter 9

"Hey can you hold the barn door open please?" Anna shouted at Lane because she was carrying two bags of wood chips to put on her beef pens.

"Ya, just one sec," Lane says as he jogs to open the door that leads to the wood chips.

"Thanks," Anna replied taking note of Lanes continual manners.

"Let me take'em, or at least one."

"No. Anyways your not supposed to be lifting a lot! I am fine i can carry them both but thank you!' Anna said trying to rend the conversation.

They walked silently the rest of the way to Bud's pen where Anna threw down the bags.

"Huh, someone is a bit out of shape!" exclaimed Anna breathing hard.

Lane laughs but realized it wasn't that funny after all he was mighty out of shape himself. After cleaning all four pens Anna lead Bud over to the blocking shoot where she began her preparations for clipping Bud.

After an hour or so of clipping Bud she takes a step back and looks at him, "Well don't you look good!"

"Well if you say so." Lane replies as he walks up to Anna.

"Wow aren't you just hilarious!"

"Ya i thought i was too!" Lane says

"Well i need to start on Sara,"

"If you give me five minutes i will start on my heifer and i can help you."

"Sure that would be good!" Anna replied. She walked off to get Sara while Lane watched her stride away. He thought to himself, damn am i lucky to have her i outta kick Bryan's ass for ever hurting her!

After about ten minutes of waiting Lane went to find her he thought she would be back by now. He walked to her trailer where he heard her panicked but strong voice.

"Bryan don't you take one more step towards me," Anna half screamed

"Why so you can run to your little boyfriend?"

"Don't bring him into this, it ain't his fault he is ten times a better boyfriend than you" Anna half screamed. Lane heard the sound of a punch he was fearful that it was Anna. But as he rounded the corner to Anna's trailer he saw Bryan lying on the ground in a heap. "Remind me again not to get on your bad side," Lane answered have grinning but on the inside terrified.

After another hour of clipping Lane and Anna were down clipping for the day.

"What would you like to do now?" Lane asked as they leaf the fluffy and clipped heifer to their pens.

"Well we could always go for a ride!" Anna said with desperation because she really wanted to ride! Anyways Dotty and Sunny needed the exercise.

"Sure let's go to the boat ramp and we will ride in the river!"Lane answered. Lane rode Sunny and Anna rode Dotty. They trotted bareback to the ramp.

"Caaaannnnn we wallkkk?" Anna slurred because Dotty was a Tennessee walker she had a very rough unless in a saddle! Lane almost fell of laughing at Anna who was trying to post but could not.

As they walked to the water Dotty,at first balked, but after a stern kick she willingly walked in to join Sunny and Lane. Anna walled Dotty until the water reached Dottys withers. She then slid off to swim next to Dotty.

After an hour or so of swimming Lane and Anna walked back to the stalls where they put away the horses!
