After 30 minutes into the forest with only the moon as a source of light, Walter began to lose hope on ever leaving the rightly named forest "Purgatory" At this point, Walter didn't know what direction he was heading, or if he should just give up or continue in his endless march towards nowhere. As he debated to continue forwards, behind him small taps on the forest floor which later became rushing footsteps forcing him to turn around towards the apprehender. His eyes strained to see the dark figure, but what he could make out made his stomach coil and mouth run dry, with his heart beating painfully in his chest he looked up at the large gruesome shadow with long rope shaped limbs sticking out of its body. But it was the demon's eyes that paralysed him. In the endless holes he thought were eyes was images of horrors that left Walter pale and sweaty.
As soon as the demon approached him, it wrapped its large limbs around Walter's arm in attempt to pull him into its waiting mouth. The pain that Walter felt wasn't like any pain he ever encountered. The pain that he felt was like a fire that quickly spread all around his body. Biting down hard on his lip, he fought down a scream, and brought his backpack down on the attacker's head. Letting out a blood curdling scream, the demon's grip loosened just enough for Walter to break free and to sprint further into the forest, leaving his backpack behind. He ran, his legs never ceasing to stop their constant cycle of motion, his mind never straying from his single thought:
Run.
His lungs were on fire and his heart was about to beat out of his chest. It was a strange sensation, he discovered, being so excruciatingly pained but unable to stop moving. His bones were made of lead, but some unknown energy forced them to continue to work with his strained muscles and have him continue through the shadows as the wails of the demon echoed behind him. Finally after sprinting through the pain coursing through his body, he came to what he saw was the edge of the town. Looking back see that the demon wasn't behind him, he took another step forward before falling into the green fields of the town. Before he lost consciousness, he caught glimpses of a dark red rose forming on his arm.

ParanormalA short story very very loosely based off a ep from Natsume Yuujinchou. (Some may know if they had either read the manga or watched the anime) This is a prequel of a story that I will later write. (Will add an actual description once I think of one)
