The Dream

  That following night, Walter dreamed about Merry. Unlike before, the demon's form was smaller than its usual giant self. In fact, he almost looked human, if you ignore that fact that he looked like a shadow of a human of course. In the dream, Merry had a collar, almost like a leash, around his neck, like he was bound to something. But what, he wondered, Was Merry bound to the town? In the dream, he stood watching as Merry tugged on the collar and pointed at him, as if the demon wanted Walter to take it off for him. Wisely, he stayed where he was. For some reason, he could feel the presence of another paranormal being drawing closer. But before he could figure out who it was, the demon abruptly stopped tugging on the collar and was yanked back by some unknown force. But before Walter could realized what happened, he too was pulled out of the dream.
