"Sierra hurry up! I'm thirsty for Costa!" I exclaimed to my best friend / co-worker.
"Alright alright. I just need to finish the queue then we can go to break" she replied.
I waited impatiently at the door as she took out H&M paper bags and put the customer's items in it and did the cash register thing.
There was like, 6 people at queue; I wanted to help by opening up a second cash register but since today's been a slow day, I decided to just stare outside the glass door that separated us from the outside world.
Oh hey look, a kid on his skateboard, ahh childhoo- AND HE FELL OMG I CAN'T
I shouldn't be laughing at this but who wouldn't?
"What're you chuckling about? A voice that has been so familiar ever since I started working here
"A kid just fell off his skateboard" I said as I started to gain a little bit of composure.
"You ready to go?" The blonde 20 year old 5'7 woman asked me
"Uhhh duh" I replied
---------------------------------
"I'll have a Bacon and Egg sandwich with Maple Syrup" I decided
"It's best served with an Americano or Tea. whatcha gettin Hugh?" Jerry, the barista asked.
Ahh Jerry. What would I do without you? You get me through the day and occasionally, hangovers with your delicious espressos.
"One americano s'il vous plait" I replied, having pronouncing the French part in a heavy accent
"Hon hon hon~" Sierra chimed in
"How bout you Sierr?"
"I'll have what he's having" she answered
We took a seat next to one of the windows so we could see London in it's full beauty. The gloomy skies that almost always hinder the sun from shining.
Like seriously, England what the bloody hell?
"So, you seeing anybody yet?" Sierra asked
Sierra has always been interested in my love life ever since I told her I was gay. She always tries to set me up with guys that are WAY too old for me and sometimes, how could I say this in a non offensive way..umm ,
Aesthetically Challenged
"None at the moment. Why you askin?" I replied
"Welllllllll~" Oh no not another date pray for me
"Oh HELL no, I ain't gonna go to one of your blind dates again. It always ends up bad" I barked
"Oh c'mon now, We Brits love you Americans" that 20-year-old-who-clearly-has-the-hots-for-Jerry-said
Oh yeah, I'm not actually British, My family moved to England from the US (Los Angeles, West Coast represent!) seven years ago since they wanted to experience what's life like in the UK.
Sadly, I didn't get to adapt the accent because it just didn't come to me you know? But my brother? Yea he speaks in a British-ghetto accent. Which is pretty intimidating sometimes to be honest.
I asked him about that and he said that he just sort of picked it up at college. Anyway, back to Costa my baby.
"Maybe I'll find one someday. You know, the one." I replied
