"Hey Ev?" Luke leaned in from the side of the doorway, catching Evan reading a book with glasses perched on his nose, "I need to ask you something."

Evan looked up in interest, taking the glasses off and revealing his brown eyes, "What is it?"

"Glad you're listening." Luke had a wide grin, him stepping into the doorway of Evan's room, clamping his hands together, "I have an old friend from North Carolina that arrived yesterday here in ol' Canada, and, well, I was wondering if you'd be cool with him coming over tomorrow to visit."

Evan raised an eyebrow, wondering why Luke needed to ask him. If it's his old friend, Evan really didn't care. At least Luke had friends that could visit. All of Evan's friends had unfortunately ditched him when they heard about his suicide attempt, and he's never heard from them since.

"Sure. I don't really care." He nonchalantly answered the waiting male, Evan slipping his glasses back on and continuing the book.

"Cool! Oh and goodnight." Luke then skipped out of the room, Evan looking up after him in confusion of his words. Night? After a quick glance at the window, he noticed that it was indeed dark out. Then Evan couldn't help but to let out a sigh in his despair, remembering the plan from earlier.

'It's now or never.' He told himself, standing up from his desk chair but keeping his glasses on for the first step, a chill running down his spine when he thought of this plan.

First he had to wait till Luke was asleep, then he could get out easier. To pass the time, he would read the book until he hears Luke's loud snoring, and then he'll go.

To be prepared, Evan put his red jacket on for the cold weather, not bothering with a scarf or gloves, seeing as he could get those later. He sat back in his desk chair, going back to the mentioned book.

A few minutes later, Evan could hear the sound of deep snoring from down the hall, no doubt that being Luke. In a quiet rush, Evan took off his glasses and marked the  book, standing to check Luke's bedroom across his. After a small peek, he saw the slow rise and fall of the blankets, the snores in tune to them.

Now to leave.

At the end of the hall, Evan swiftly took his scarf and gloves off the multi-hat stand and grabbed a grey beanie that was lying around, not bothering to check if it was his. He headed to the front door while wrapping the scarf around his neck and slipping the gloves on. Thankfully the door didn't creak when he opened it and his nerves didn't calm down until he successfully got out, and closed the door without waking the CO.

Tugging on the beanie, Evan made his way down the porch stairs and towards his destination, shivering slightly at the chilling air.

'It'll all be over soon.' Evan had to keep telling himself, his shoes making the only sound on the dimly lit pavement, not a person in sight, lucky for him. After a small while of walking, he stopped in front of a lightened sign above an entrance to a large grassy area, it reading 'Town Park.'

He sucked in a deep breath and started forward, heading to where he remembered the bridge was that ran above the icy river. The swings creaked from the wind and the see-saw seemingly moved a little, the creepy atmosphere giving him the chills once more as he walked by.

Evan never did like areas around town when they were covered in shadows. They always seemed to be scarier and more hidden at night, an easy hiding place for wandering people.

Evan reached the sparkling water of the river, faintly spotting the bridge a little down stream and heading towards it. He stopped abruptly when a snap of a twig was heard, him turning his head to scan around him.
