In Jonathan's eyes, Evan was a strange character. One minute he was happy, the next he was flustered, then he was sad but angry at the same time. It confused Jonathan, and he had huge respect for Luke would could keep up with this guy. Maybe Evan was bipolar?
Currently Jonathan was sitting on the couch alone, Luke had gone to sleep and the time read '11:27PM.' For Evan's sake, Jonathan promised to stay up all night just incase Evan went to sneak out. His windows weren't a problem since Luke was required to lock them and get stronger glass incase, well, he tried to break out.
Come to think of it. This was like a prison in many ways.
A small noise was heard from the island bench and Jonathan turned on the couch quickly to check. Evan stood behind the counter, staring into a glass of water with a faraway look. His eyes seemed to be smoked over to a darker brown as he rubbed the glass with his thumb.
"Do you know that urge you get?" Evan spoke up slowly, Jonathan frowning at the choice of words while standing.
"Urge?" Jonathan questioned as he stepped closer, facing the male across from him. It's only closer that Jonathan had noticed Evan had been crying.
"The urge to just..." Evan bit his lip slightly, trailing his eyes up to meet Jonathan's, "Jump."
"Evan, are you feeling okay?"
"When am I ever." Evan sighed, turning around to dump his glass in the sink. This kind of Evan scared Jonathan. He's seen how shy Evan can get and how angry, but this was just... Depressing...
"You should go to sleep." Evan turned to face Jonathan who was leaning on the bench with his arms crossed. Jonathan shrugged in reply to the statement.
"I'm not tired." That was a lie. Jonathan was in fact tired, he just didn't want Evan doing anything crazy while he slept. However, his answer seemed to sadden Evan. The used tears started to appear again and Evan lowered his gaze to the bench.
"Take a sleeping tablet?" He mumbled, Jonathan only guessing why Evan wanted him asleep and he wasn't going to let that happen. Jonathan walked around the counter in a slow pace when a tear slipped from his chocolate eyes, Evan wiping it away just as quickly as it left.
"Evan... You should get some sleep..." Jonathan placed a hand on the shorter male's back in attempt to comfort him. Jonathan's never been good at comforting people, Luke's countless reminders have proved that.
"I'm not tired." Evan used his words against him while turning his head to Jonathan, showing off the darker shade.
"Well... Do you want to stay up... With me?" Jonathan gave a smile to Evan, seeing the ravenet avoid his eyes and shake off his hand. Evan's own eyes seemed to grow lighter and dilate when he adverted his gaze.
"Um... sure..." Evan then turned straight back to Jonathan, him smiling to the shorter male.
"Alright. Come on. The couch is way better than just standing here." And it lets Jonathan keep a close eye on him.
Jonathan lead him past with a hand between his shoulder blades, guiding the male to the couch. Evan sat down first, his knees being brought up to his chest with his arms around them. When Jonathan sat down, he sat so he faced the male, his leg bent while the other hung over the edge.
Neither of them said a word to the other, both silent while looking off. Although Evan might of felt horrible, Jonathan on the other hand was feeling much better, knowing Evan wasn't going to just disappear and never return. But it was too quiet on the other end, Evan not saying a word. Until he started to cry.
Evan had his chin resting atop his knees, silent tears dropping down his cheeks. His hair was messy and eyes held bags, his tiredness showing.
"Evan, why are you crying?" Jonathan asked, straightening up his position to be beside Evan.
"I'm not." The crying one denied weakly, the taller of the two moving closer to place a hand on Evan's opposite shoulder.
"Is something bothering you?" Jonathan knew the answer but with this delicate Evan, being forceful would be a little too scary.
"Everything is." He suddenly broke into tears, Jonathan pulling himself closer so he could wrap his arm around Evan's shoulder blades in a comforting way. Scratch being too scary, "It's all bothering me... So much..."
Jonathan shushed Evan's cries, running his hand up and down the shorter's arm to sooth him, "It's okay." Even Jonathan knew it wasn't, but then again, he was horrible at comforting people.
"How can you stand me?" Evan started, Jonathan frowning at the words.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean me! How do you stand this crying weak son of a bitch? You only just met me yesterday and yet you're staying here?! Trying to comfort me?!" Evan started to cry again, tears streaming down his face even quicker as he lowered his feet to touch the floor. Jonathan was stunned by the words, but he shouldn't be too surprised when Luke told him he 'had a depressed friend.'
"No no no," Jonathan denied, placing a hand on Evan's knee and rubbing comforting circles on it with his thumb, "Evan. You're not weak, nor is your mother a 'bitch.'"
"But I'm crying." Evan retaliated, turning his head to Jonathan as if to show off his point. Tears were indeed streaming down his cheeks, and Jonathan only simply removed his hand from Evan's knee to wipe them away.
"Everyone cries." Jonathan shrugged, Evan looking back to the ground, "I've cried, Luke's cried-"
"But I cry more." Evan argued while waving his hand to the side. Jonathan moved his hand from the male to lean back into the couch, rubbing circles into the smaller males back.
"I wouldn't expect anything less from what you've been through."
