You told me not to cry when you were gone. And suddenly, we're strangers again.
-
"Do you want some coffee, babe?" Joohyuk smiles as he held her hand tighter- as they were roaming freely at the busy streets of Seoul.
"Sure."
"Then wait here and I will go and get one, okay?" He lets her seat on one of the bench, before drifting towards the coffee shop located nearby.
As his figure disappears, she sighed before looking down.
She is happy with Joohyuk- really.
But why is he still in her head?
Has she actually moved on?
-
Taeyong casually walks around- with hands in his hoodie- as he is listening to some songs through the earphone.
"Aish, cold." His eyes wander around- as he found a coffee shop nearby. Nice.
He enters the coffee shop. They weren't much people present. In front of him was a guy wearing a blue sweater- as he patiently waits for him to order.
"Two caramel macchiato and one latte, please."
Caramel macchiato.
There- she came back, flashing in his mind.
"I like caramel macchiato."
"I like you better."
"Tae! Stop being cheesy."
"Only for you."
He unknowingly smiles as the memories came back. What a fool. Even after nine fucking years, he still can't move on.
"Taeyong?"
That blue-sweatered guy greets him- as he immediately recognizes him as his ex-classmate during high school. They were quite close- since both of them were considered as the heartthrobs of the school.
"Oh, Joohyuk?"
"Hey, it has been a while!" Joohyuk said as he smiles. "Oh- you got hotter, huh? How unfair."
Taeyong laughs at his jokes. "Funny." He paused. "Oh I think I should order my coffee first-"
"-I bought extra. Caramel macchiato. It is actually for my girlfriend- but she has another one. Oh- come with me! I would like to introduce you to her."
-
As soon as her eyes met him, she froze.
She almost burst into tears, yet she held it in by biting her lips, hard.
After nine fucking years, he is finally there, right in front of her eyes.
"This is your girlfriend?" She could hear his voice- cold. Not the usual warm guy she used to love. "Yeah. Babe, this is Taeyong, my ex-classmate. And Taeyong- this is Jennie, my girlfriend."
Taeyong eyes the girl in front of him- the woman he used to shower with lots of love. Whoah- she moved on easily, huh?
"If there is nothing else, than I better get going first." Taeyong smiled- as he took a glance on her for the last time, before excusing himself.
She cursed herself- over and over again. It is all her fault- definitely her fault. She left him without any words.
"Babe? Are you okay?" Jennie quickly smiled before nodding.
"Yeah."
No.
-
"Good morning, Dr Lee."
Taeyong smiled at his coworkers before entering his office. He puts his briefcase aside and loosens his necktie as the clock strikes nine.
Looks like it's time to work.
He is a psychiatric, who often takes light cases. Like y'know- heartbreaks, depressions and stuffs like that.
He peeked over the file on his table. Ahh, new case. He doesn't even have the time to read the profile, as the door opens.
He swore he almost lost it when he saw her figure.
"Jennie shi?"
-
She fidgeted- not knowing what to do. The situation was damn awkward- as he was looking over her profile silently.
"So, is there anything you wanted to share with me, Jennie shi?"
Her heart ached when he called her using the formal speech. "Uhh." She started out before taking a deep breath. I guess I should just be honest.
"I still love my ex."
She could clearly see how he almost chokes in the air, yet he stayed calm. "And?"
"But I already have a boyfriend."
He stayed quiet- as he looks straight into her eyes. "It has really been a while, Jennie shi." He smiles- and oh god his smile is still as gorgeous as ever.
"Yeah- it has been a while." She doesn't dare to make any eye contact with him. He looks colder than usual- it was mostly her fault anyway.
"I guess you should just stay with your current boyfriend."
His answer broke her heart. "But- why?"
"You won't even find another guy to replace your ex if you still can't get over him." He speaks calmly. "Joohyuk loves you so much, Jen ah."
She shut her eyes tight when he finally called her by her nickname. Floods of memories with him came back- swimming in her thoughts.
"Taeee!"
"You know what- you have a nickname for me. But I don't have one for you." Taeyong pouts- which earned a cute laugh from her.
"What a kid." She pinched her cheeks. "I think Jen would sound cute."
"Jen?"
"You know- like Tae and Jen? TaeJen? JenTae? Or something?"
"Okay." He smiles. "Jen ahhh!"
"But don't you love me, too? I know you still can't get over me, Tae ah."
"I still love you. I will always love you." He flashed his gentle smile. "But you deserve way better than me, Jen ah. I know Joohyuk. He's a great guy. I know he can take care of you better than I did."
"Tae-" She lost it. She felt so bad- for not waiting for him, for not being loyal towards him. He waited for her for nine fucking years- yet she moved on so easily.
"Can you please- kiss me for the last time?"
He smiles. "I love you, Jen ah." He leans in before kissing her- and it felt as if two different puzzle pieces get connected back with each other.
Suddenly the whole world doesn't feel so wrong anymore.
He finally broke the kiss- as he gently wiped her tears.
"I guess this is our farewell."
"I love you too, Tae."
Too bad- they were so in love with each other. But they aren't meant to be.
