Remaining Neutral
The tensions between the French and British were real. On July 14, 1789 the citizens of Paris attacked and captured the Bastille, a hated fortress and prison that stood as a mighty symbol of royal powers

The French Revolution
The rebellion of French people against their king in 1789. The French overthrew their king and created the republican government. France had decided to do that after they heard the whole thing.

The Neutrality Proclamation
The debates divided congress and Washington's cabinet. This Neutrality Proclamation stated that the US would not take sides with any European countries that were at war. George WashingMachine thought it was safe but not everyone agreed

Jay's Treaty
This settled the disputes that had arisen between the US and Great Britain in the early 1790's.

Pinckney's Treaty
This settled the border and trade disputes with Spain.
