You wake up when the plane hits the ground. The turbulence wasn't too bad over the course of the flight, so you were able to get some decent sleep.

As you step off the plane into the airport, you notice the surroundings inside that you haven't seen since you left, having expected to not return. You make your way over to pick up your luggage before heading outside to call a cab.

What surprises you is when you see your parents standing by the door holding up a giant sign with your name on it.

"Y/N!" You hear your mother yell when she sees you walking towards them. Her enthusiasm isn't missed by your father, who immediately turns his head in your direction, smiling wide as his eyes catch yours.

You reach them and they both engulf you into a tight hug. "We missed you," Your father mumbles, and you nod, "I missed you guys too."

And an hour later, you're at home, positioned comfortably on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa in your hand and a blanket keeping you warm.

"What was the emergency, darling?" Your mother asks as soon as your father steps out of the room, "I'm so glad to have you home, but what caused the sudden arrival?"

You shake your head, "Nothing. I-I just missed you guys, that's all. I have a week off and the first thing that came to my mind was to come and see you."

Your mother looks at you with an expression you've seen too many times before. There's no hiding anything from her.

But, saved by the bell, or more saved by the dad, your father walks in the room and your mother seems to immediately drop the topic of discussion.

"Well, I've missed you kiddo, but I'm going to have to head off to bed. It's getting late and I have to work tomorrow." Your dad tells you and you nod, "Oh, you're right. I should, uh, probably go to bed too. Long flight. I'm a bit jet lagged." You tell your dad and you can hear your mother audibly sigh.

You get up with your empty cup of hot cocoa and put it in your sink in the kitchen before heading to your bedroom. Being in there feels so nostalgic, it's been a while since you visited home.

Setting your phone on the nightstand, you notice all the missed calls and texts from the one person you're trying to get away from. Why is it that it's always the people you don't want contacting you, that end up being the ones flashing across your screen?

You ignore them, not taking a chance to even give them a short glance. Walking over to your suitcase which had been brought into your room by your father upon arrival, you pull out a pair of sweat pants and a sleep shirt, changing into them before plopping down on your bed with all intentions to fall asleep.

But you don't.

You can't, you tell yourself, because you got some sleep on the plane, so you're not tired now. But what it really is is the girl who keeps running through the back of your mind no matter how hard you try to slow her down.

Someone is coming through the door and you close your eyes when you hear it open, only for it to be swiftly shut again. You feel someone kneel on your mattress and crawl over, wrapping you into an embrace so unique that only one person in the whole world would ever be able to make you feel an embrace so safe.

So safe that without even thinking about it, your heart breaks and tears burst out of your eyes as if they knew, they can feel that this is a safe haven for you.
