"Stiles!" He heard his history teacher call his name. Stiles jolted from his slumber and quickly peeled a piece of drool- glued notebook paper off his face. He looked around at everyone laughing and frowned, embarrassment causing his cheeks to turn firetruck red. "Good, now that you're finally awake we can go over partners for the project. Malia, you're with Lydia. Lydia, make sure Malia doesn't get into any kind of trouble like last time. Scott, I've paired you with Mark-"

"Woah, woah, woah!" Stiles interjected. "Scott and I like literally always work together."

Mr. Williams sighed and looked back down at his list. "No Stiles. I believe you're working with Theo, not Scott."

Stiles turned around and looked at Theo, who hadn't been paying much attention silence he was busy doodling. He turned back around slammed his head on the desk, releasing a loud groan. Stiles clearly didn't want to work with Theo. Scott tapped lightly on his soldier. "Cheer up, dude. It's not like I don't have to work with someone I like."

Scott had to work with Mark Greenberg, the kid who got held back twice and was already almost turning twenty in a few months. Mark was hated by most of the school and sucked at lacrosse, but none of that ever really seemed to bother him. Maybe he had already known he was doomed to be nothing so he had given up on life early.

Williams finished reading all of the names off the list and Stiles listened enviably as most of the class cheered when they got to work with their friends. He purposely got up from his seat slowly and slowly walked over to Theo's desk. Theo was humming and drawing an amazing drawing of what looked like a shape- shifter.

Figures, Stiles reasoned with himself. Theo was a chimera. He was probably drawing the next monster he would create in his little laboratory, with the dread doctors at his side, encouraging him for all of the good work he's done in order to make the world more of a horrible place. Stiles slammed his book on the desk next to Theo and Theo nearly jumped at the startling sound.

"Hey." Theo smiled, and Stiles rolled his eyes. Theo could smell the lingering tension. "Listen, I know we don't agree on some things, but the quicker we finish then the less time you'll have to spend with me. If you want, we can meet up at the library later."

Stiles squinted at Theo. "Don't agree on some things, you Say? Theo, you've killed people, you've turned people into monsters, you tried to get Liam to kill Scott and when he didn't you did. I wouldn't call that 'some things', I'd call that everything," his words were like poison.

"I know, Stiles, and I'm really sorry."

"Sorry?"

"Yes, Stiles. I'm sorry about what happened, but I did save your life a few times. Not to mention, I resurrected Hayden for Liam, I resurrected Corey for Mason, and I've been keeping the Dread Doctors away from you."

Stiles glared at him. "You only resurrected Hayden and Corey for your own little pack. What do you even mean by 'I've been keeping the Dread Doctors away from you'?"

"You probably won't believe me, but for a long time the Dread Doctors wanted to turn you into something they've been calling 'file twelve'. I've got no idea what it means or stands for, but it doesn't seem too good," Theo explained.

Stiles tilted his head questionably. "So, what you're saying is that the dread doctors wanted me, and you're protecting me?" Theo shook his head. "I don't buy it. Why would the Dread Doctors want me?"

Theo laughed. "You don't get it, do you Stiles? You're stronger than you think, smarter than you seem, and worth much more than you play off."

"So why haven't you let them take me?" Stiles voice became much darker. "Pretty sure I could be at good use to build-your-own-pack."

"I don't want anything that they'll make you out to be Stiles. I want you as you. Not as the monster they want to make you." For a few seconds, the two connected eyes, and they both felt different. Theo cooked his head to the side, much too afraid of his feelings. "We should probably get back to work."

"Get back to work? We haven't even started."

THIS CHAPTER IS SHORT BUT I PROMISE THEY'LL GET LONGER AND MORE DETAILED AND DESCRIPTIVE. I'VE TRIED WRITING STEO FAN FICTIONS BEFORE BUT THEY'VE ALL ENDED IN DEATH SO I'M TRYING MY BEST NOT TO MAKE ANYONE DIE. YOURS, VOIDSTEO.
