Considering we all missed classes on Monday, the rest of the week crawled by slowly. Work was the same old monotonous drill and the only thing that made the nights go by quickly was being there with Aiden.
Aiden always managed to make me laugh at the dumbest things. If it weren't for Aiden, my life would be humorless and relatively boring. He's a jokester but deep down inside he's the biggest sweetheart next to Zac and Chad.
He's going to make some lucky girl so happy one day...that is when he decides to stop being such a man skank.
As if he knew what I was thinking, he turned away from the brunette he was shamelessly flirting with to throw me a wink.
I saw Hunter a few times during the week on pool league nights, but it was pretty much crunch time for them. His fraternity made it into the final four teams competing for the trophy so they were all full of seriousness.
We weren't too busy for a Friday night, there was some sort of concert being held on campus so I figured that's where everyone was at.
"Hey Kaila." Hunter called out as he approached the bar.
"Hey Hunter. How've you been?" I asked wiping my hands on a rag as I made my way over to him. I got to work after the pool league started so I didn't even notice he was back there.
"I've been good...and you?" He said smiling, his brown eyes twinkling under the lights. "Soooo, I heard through the grapevine that my chances of ever getting you to leave Zac have grown relatively slimmer." He joked with a big grin on his face.
What in the world is he talking about me leaving Zac? I guess the dumbfounded look on my face explained it all.
Hunter let a small chuckle. "I have Chem Lab with Zac, heard him talking to his lab partner about you accepting his proposal." He admitted biting down on his bottom lip fighting back a smile.
I held up my left ring finger showing him the proof. "Guess you heard right, I'm an engaged woman now." I said wiggling my eyebrows at him.
"Dammit...and here I thought I had a fighting chance." He snapped his fingers and laughed.
"Aww I'm sorry Hunt." I smiled sadly. "Can we at least still be friends?"
"Of course!" He answered excitedly. "Maybe we could get together for coffee again sometime. I hardly see you around campus anymore." Hunter said leaning on the bar with his pool stick in hand. "Beat up anymore doors lately?" He smirked.
I rolled my eyes at his question. "Well I was going to say yes to meeting up for coffee, but since you feel like being the funny man tonight...forget it."
"Aww, don't be like that! You know I was just kidding!" He whined with a sad puppy dog look in his eyes.
"Yo Hunt, get your ass over here man...you're up!" One of his buddies called out.
"Text me...we'll get together." He winked and I nodded as he headed back over to the pool tables. See, I knew Hunter was one of the good guys and that Zac had nothing to worry about. He never overstepped his boundaries nor did he ever disrespected me.
I was looking forward to this night being over, it meant that I'd have two days off in a row...two whole days off! I was so ecstatic I didn't even know what to do with myself!
Waking up Saturday morning to a string of curse words, I looked over to see Zac pacing back and forth in his room staring down at a letter in his hands.
"What's the matter baby?" I croaked out sleepily as I glanced over at the alarm clock. Ugh! It's nine-thirty...wth!
"Sorry I woke you beautiful. Go back to sleep." He apologized with a concerned expression on his face.
