Monday morning started the same as every other. My alarm clock screaming to get up. Quickly followed by the thud of it hitting my wall. I hated that alarm it meant I had to wake up. I pulled my sea of waves into a quick bun and headed to my bathroom. Thankful my older sister was still asleep so I could shower in peace. That peace was short lived when the water went cold. I quickly shut it off with soap still in my hair.
"Alex I don't get why you try to take a shower before me. I'm older I have seniority in the morning." my sister Kelsey snickered and walked out. I cursed under my breath and rinsed my hair. When I was done i wrapped in my over sized beach towel and headed back to my room. I say over sized because aside from me it swallows everyone. The only reason I was exempt is I inherited curves unlike my sister and mom. I pulled on a pair of baby blue skinny jeans and a grey tank top. "Alex mom wants you!"
"Yeah mom!" I yelled down the hall as I pulled on my boots. When I didn't get a response I walked to my parents room. "yes mom?"
"Are you going to behave this time? because I really don't want to change your school again." My mom looked like she hadn't slept last night. Which was pretty understandable if she was worried about me. I had the not so perfect school discipline record. From fights to vandalism you name it I've most likely done it. I got expelled from my school after first semester. Apparently telling the principles wife to shove her opinion and her homework up her ass wasn't tolerable.
"In my defense she deserved it. She called you an unfit parent. But yes I promise to behave, but only for you." I kissed my moms cheek and went back to getting dressed. Ten minutes later I had my plaid over shirt and leather jacket on and was headed to the garage. "Hi daddy!" I chimed.
"Alex don't start anything today please. Have a good day and no fights!" he handed me the keys to my '67 impala and nodded. I smiled and gave him a thumbs up that I understood. My parents never could figure out how I was so misbehaved yet got perfect grades. I guess it was just a talent. The drive to Jacksonville High School was brief. After a quick trip to the office I met my tour guide at the library.
"You're Alexandria right?" He asked. I nodded and flashed a bright white smile. I saw his hazel eyes flash green and then he smiled back. "Well welcome to Jacksonville. I'm Jason, i'll show you around for the rest of today." I'd heard the speech before. Actually I've heard it in at least 4 different accents since freshman year. Once for freshman orientation, again when we moved to Dallas. The third was sophomore orientation in Montana and the last was about ten seconds ago.
"Well Jason I'll try not to make your life hell." I gave him my best innocent smile and pulled my bag over my shoulder. His eyes dimmed a little and he nodded. "You already heard my school track record haven't you?"
"Well yes but... If you don't mind me asking how is it you've been to four different schools including here and you're a sophomore?" Jason had started walking so i followed. I considered lying to him but honesty was the best policy or some shit like that.
"Well the first three were because we moved this time I got expelled and we were moving so now I'm in the lovely Jacksonville Mississippi!" I gave my best impression of a cheerleader and he laughed. When he stopped in front of a classroom i stopped with him. "Is this my home room?"
"Yes and No. It's your home room on Monday. every other day you go to your science class first." The way he said it kind of made sense. The only problem I had was why give me a class I'm only in monday morning?
"So is it like a prep period or am I stuck here so they can make sure I won't do anything bad?" I almost asked if I had to talk to the damn counselor. Until Jason started laughing. "What?"
"It's not a bad thing. But all sophomores have a Monday Home room to see what we get to do next year. Hence why we only have five classes. Now come on you're in my class anyways." Jason opened the door and ushered me in.
"Wow it's bigger in here than I expected. Well isn't this a lovely amphitheater!" I laughed and headed for the back of the room. Jason followed but looked nervous. "What's wrong Blondie?"
"You have to go see Mrs.Chambers. She's in charge of this class period. Besides I have to sit in my assigned seat. As do you." Jason nodded back towards the front of the classroom. I groaned and trudged to the front of the classroom. Mrs.Chambers was a petite woman. Maybe 5'2" in height not very big around with a head full of blonde ringlets.
"Hello Jason. I'm going to assume this is our new student?" She asked smiling at me. I nodded and looked at the posters behind her. Even i wasn't this bad with band posters. "Do you like my collection Alexandria?"
"It's kind of impressive. But ACDC belongs next to Kiss an Metallica not N SYNC." I pointed to the one misplaced poster. Mrs.Chambers nodded and smiled again. "Oh and call me Alex, Alexandria makes me feel like I'm in trouble."
"Alright Alex well we're doing self introductions today so you can start us off if you want to or you can wait a few minutes." I nodded to show my understanding and dropped my bag on a front desk. "Just say your name, favorite car and an interesting fact about you."
"Got it. Tell me when." I stood by her desk while she got everyone to settle down. when she nodded in my direction I started. "Erh... my names Alexandria, call me Alex. My favorite car is my '67 Chevy Impala. And an interesting fact about me is my eyes are teal, but turn purple when I'm mad."
